    I'd guess they almost have to put in claims on Moore and Lopez since the bullpen has been looking pretty shaky. I wouldn't mind upgrading Luplow, but I'm skeptical that the front office will go that route.

    Do you know if it is today's records that form the waiver order, or will it be the records on the 31st when the claim is settled?

    Anyone know how the waiver claim order works? I know it goes by record, but is it AL teams before NL teams or are they all mixed together.

    It would be great if Funderburk could solidify himself as the second lefty in the bullpen over the next month. I've been hoping that Moran would step up, but he's just never found the necessary consistency.

    Since his 4-4 game, Gallo has gone 1-17 with 12 SO. How much failure will it take for the Twins to finally move on.

    I'm a bit curious why Luplow is still in the majors, it seems like Austin Martin could provide a lot more production as a right-handed outfield bat.

    I don't know that I'd call Castro irreplaceable, I think Austin Martin could fill the same role while being much better at the plate. This offseason it will be interesting to see how the Twins handle Martin, Castro, and Gordon since I'm not sure more than one of them makes the 2024 opening day roster.

    Martin really seems like he's ready for the majors. If Wallner misses any time, I'd give Martin the chance to take a lot of those ABs.

    I doubt that I've ever wanted to waive a guy coming off a 4-4 game with 2 HRs, but Gallo needs to go. He's been so bad for so long that I just can't convince myself that he's somehow going to turn a corner and finish out the season strong.

    I'm curious if anyone knows why Simeon Woods Richardson's fastball was consistently sitting in the 86-88 mph range? I thought he used to have a 92-94 mph fastball.

    Joey Gallo's wRC+ by month: Mar/Apr 183, May 86, Jun 81, Jul 55, Aug 4 I think Gallo's last stand already happened in July. He hasn't been good in over 3 months and his production has been trending the wrong direction the whole time. At this point, there is no credible reason for Gallo to still be on the roster.

    I'd rather have given Garlick the roster spot. Garlick has been really good at AAA for the last month and has already proven that he can be a useful bat when he only faces lefties. I'm honestly not sure why the Twins chose Luplow over him.

    Since we didn't trade to address the team's issues, it should be time to bring up Garlick and Funderburk. That would give the team someone who can hit lefties and a left-handed reliever who at least has a chance of being an upgrade. I also think it would be worthwhile to give Winder or Sands an extended chance in the bullpen (rather than bouncing them back to St. Paul after they pitch).

    Lewis is finally succeeding at the major league level, so at this point I have no interest in doing anything to disrupt that success. I'd leave him at 3B/SS and find an alternative path to upgrading the outfield.

    My vote would be to put Buxton on the IL and let Julien DH.

    The idea of "we're a better team when he's in the lineup" has been clearly untrue since the start of May. Having a DH with .650 OPS over the last 2 and a half months is not setting the team up for success. I agree he needs to go on the IL until his health issues are resolved.

    Day 1 of the draft makes me nervous because my confidence in the front office ability to evaluate 1st round talent is not high. That said, I'm happy with the Twins first 3 picks this year (I'm thankful the team didn't try to play games with the #5 pick). Now onto day 2 where the organization has done a great job over the years.

    The Yankees just fired their hitting coach, I don't see any reason that the Twins shouldn't do the same.

    I have absolutely no faith in Falvey being smarter than the universal consensus at #5. Just make the glaringly obvious pick and be happy that you have a chance to draft an elite level prospect.

    If Miranda is hitting, I don't think there would be much of an issue finding him ABs at 3B/1B/DH. The fact that all of our depth at corner OF and 1B is left-handed gives him a pretty clear opportunity.

    My guess for the trade deadline is that Kepler gets moved, the Twins acquire a relief pitcher that can be trusted in high leverage situations, Julien sticks in the majors, Miranda bounces back, and that Buxton starts to play CF part time.

    I would be interested in signing him to an extension, but $20M/2 years seems too high. I could see something in the ballpark of $14M/2 years as a more palatable deal. The best-case scenario would be that he is able to return to form in 2025 and the Twins extend a qualifying offer.

    Taylor would be great in the role as Buxton's backup in centerfield. Unfortunately, he has been and continues to be the starter, a role that is too big for him.
