I Googled "Joe M" to find out who might eventually show up in these conversations.  Joey Martarano is an Idaho kid who was maybe a top 100 draft pick type a couple three years ago.  He's from the same town (or the next one over) that produced Harmon.  He chose to play football at Boise State, but wisely retired and took the Cubs money.  He's in rookie ball now, with much less fanfare than Tim Tebow.

 

Googling "Josef M" yields a result I'd hope doesn't make an appearance in these conversations.

I've always wondered who invented pickles. Did she see this green tube-like thing growing in the woods and think I bet if I jam a bunch of these tuberosities into a pickle jar, shove some of this other weed in there, too, pour in some vinegar and boil the pi$$ out of it the old man will have something to go with his beer while he watches cavemen in suits draw out football plays on the cave walls?

I've never understood the appeal of food you don't want to chew and really savor for a few seconds.

The Joe M thing reminds me of something someone said to me once. I found out that her name was Lois, and I told her about a club in the Twin Cities called the Lois club. (It actually exists, and you can probably figure out the requirement for membership.) She told me that, yes, she was aware of it. Although she was not a member she said that she had heard that they were a very tight knit group and that everyone was on a last name basis.

Hmm ... there are certainly going to be some disappointed ... that we didn't sell or buy 'enough' or 'right' ... it's the way of it because we all enjoy the 'if I were GM, this is what I would do' discussion, and often have differing opinions ... and I mean that sincerely ... but ... some will be disappointed because that's the nature of it and there is no way to satisfy everyone ... so given that long-winded lead-up, my question/comment is this ... define 'fun.'

I used to like oysters ... fried or smoked or in a stew ... good stuff. Then I ate a bad one. What followed was not good, but what it left me with was a high intolerance for them in the future. My body detects them as poison ... oyster anything, even oyster juice which is used in some sauces ... and what follows isn't worth it. No more oysters. No clams, either ... same reaction. Won't test out scallops or mussels, either. So not worth it.

And i feel obligued to point out, the two options are not mutually exclusive. There are many things of which we have pics that didn't happen.
