Things to Think About:

1. Think About Matt Pagnozzi... I didn't even know he was still playing baseball. Kind of like... I didn't know Lew Ford was still playing baseball when he showed up out of the blue last year with the Orioles.

2. Think about Liam Hendriks... We still want him to develop into a decent pitcher... don't we? We haven't given up on him... Have We? His last start was a decent one against Texas... Hopefully he can have another one in Houston.

3. Think about Brian Dozier... It is September and Brian Dozier is the leading home run hitter on the team. Let me repeat that... It is September and Brian Dozier is the leading home run hitter on the team.

4. Think about Josh Willingham... It is September and Josh Willingham is not the leading home run hitter on the team... Let me repeat that... It is September and Josh Willingham is not the leading home run hitter on the team.

5. Think about Patience... They say that good things come to those who wait... However... doesn't it also mean that they are good things left over from the fantastic things that came to those who got there first.

From the Strib: "Dozier has the most extra base hits in all of MLB since June 28, or at least he did as of gametime yesterday. Yes, more than Miguel Cabrera. More than anyone. He has 36 of them -- 10 homers, 24 doubles and two show-off doubles. He is slugging .502 in that span."

I watch the game more closely when Dozier's coming up to bat. I almost expect something good to happen right now. It's a nice feeling. Imagine how much fun it must be for him.

6. Think about lawn mowers. When they're working properly do you ever give them a second thought, or even a first? How about when they stop working?

Having brought a mower back from the dead this afternoon, I can now say I've given them more thought than I ever imagined possible.

Of course we want Hendriks to develop into a good pitcher. But only good when he's on our team and we can trade him for a good prospect when we get a better pitcher up. He can suck it up after we get something good for him.

7. Think about not having the Astros to play again this year after today.

8. Think about how much lipstick Roy has used while Bert was gone.

9. Think about patience, 22 yrs since the last World Series, 11 yrs since the last playoff series win and 9 yrs since a playoff game won.

Luckily I'm old and forgot what I was being patient about.

Would rather be shopping, actually, but there's a thunderstorm going on; thought better to just stay indoors.

Yes, well, and mercifully, it's no longer pouring rain out; I'm going shopping. (Note that I did not say '**** it! I'm going shopping!)

Noted.

Did they just say that Plouffe tried a Punto-esque head first slide into first?

Playing Pinto every other day isn't going to cut it.

Especially with this Hunter-esque smile

omg ... note to Plouffe ... if you are going to emulate Punto, do it better than that. That slide looked liked he tripped headfirst into first.

Please consider laying hands on Liam Hendriks's arm.

Figured you were just editorializing. Looked it up. Rand said that.

Yeah, I was thinking he probably meant show-off triples but I figured I'd leave it in his words.

Did Provus just guess that there was about 4000 in attendance today? Yikes, sounds like an empty park. That can't be fun to play in.

It's a terrible ballpark even when people are there to whoop it up. I can't imagine what it'd be like empty. I've been to quiet games at the Oakland Coliseum, they're still a pleasant day in the sun.

You shop a lot. Just an observation.

Shopping isn't buying. Like today. Was an half-hearted effort. No buying.

Yeah, I've been to some pretty lightly-attended games in Oakland, and agreed, it's still a good time. Houston just looks like a huge, empty tomb.

A friend said one of his buddies went to an A's game back in the 80s that had something like 380 people in attendance. Almost no ushers, so most people went behind home plate. Other guys staked out their own entire section. His buddy ended up getting 17 foul balls that game.

Three hours later it's right back where it started, with two wheels in the ground.

We'll just have to put both of them down.

Ohhhh, I never could stay mad at you, Josmil.

Neither one of them likely has much trade-in value at the moment, but you hate to just put them out at the curb. Just like you hate to have to rely on them.
