As my original post said, this is the way it is done on every team and every sport.  There is a pecking order and some players get more input than others based on their status with the team.

well...his face is the Twins on most of the promo material....my biggest objection was him not going to AAA after his injury and making sure that his first game back was the HIGH profile Field of Dreams game when he obviously was not ready...IT WAS his decision and damaging to the team. I then see him in San Diego in person limping... I am starting getting a second opinion of him...

Or the players understand the real world, where we are not all equal in ability.  And they do recognize the contributions he makes and understand that if he says he can play, he will probably be in the lineup.

Everyone is forgetting the game he had the night before he hurt himself again.  The problem is he can't do that consistently.  I am for him shutting it down, but I understand he is a competitor and he thinks this is the way to help the team.  At this point, we don't even know if it will reach a point that he will try and play.

Because they just refuse to move on from the players that have been bad for years....

Then there is the other side that we have seen in sports, where a player who maybe could play thru something and shuts it down rather than try and help his team.  There are two ways to look at this.

Don't agree...but they need to not count on him so heavily in the future...32...injuries...hip surgery...CF should be out...of the question...

If you think something is "the way it is done on every team and every sport," you're definitionally wrong. It is doubtful that anyone on team fan sites has full knowledge about what one team does, much less every team. What is much more likely is that each team lies on a continuum within its sport, regarding whether they shut down an injured player or give star players more leeway to decide if he should have surgery or is ready to play.

I don't know who has been bad for years, but they needed to get more flexible with LH/RH OFs after they inexplicably horded more of them at the deadline. And then didn't move any in the following year.
