Royals 4, Twins 0: An Old Friend Acts Foe-ish

Things I did not expect to see in 2026:  

Randy Dobnak accumulating more WAR in 5 games (1.4) than all but two members of the Twins pitching staff.

I'm not certain if I should laugh or cry.

Griffen Jax, on the other hand... Twins blew it with that guy. Should have given him a legit shot at starting. Epic fail.

Jax did get a legitimate shot to start at the beginning of his Twins career and was very bad... maybe if they ever bolstered the bullpen with legitimate external options they could have experimented with him as a starter last year, but they needed him in the pen.

I remember and I agree on Jax's early career. His first shot was as a starter, and he flopped. Then, he became an excellent reliever. My point was, I think the Twins organization is too stiff with their career assessments, especially with starters that become relievers. Some guys become better pitchers, figure things out. Jax was one of those guys, and the Twins missed it.

Heck, he also struggled in AAA with the Seattle organization earlier this season, I think they granted him his release, and then somehow, some way, he has found his mojo again in Kansas City. I'm happy for him. But obviously not happy that he beat the Twins.
