I wouldn't be surprised if Verse goes to a bad team with a young QB before the next draft in a three way deal for Cleveland to move up and get a QB. From their perspective, there’s almost no way to get fair trade value for a 1st ballot HOF type of player. Verse is from Ohio evidently so maybe he will have a little home state pride to turn that situation around. Agreed with you all they’re doing is setting up to take a QB right away in 2027. With ammo to spare if the Cardinals or Dolphins out-tank them. nicksaviking and TheLeviathan 2

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5 Posted June 5 We will see soon enough what Christian Watson’s contract breakdown looks like… The reported 4/$110 million extension is insane for a player who hasn’t topped 700 yards in a single season. Jordan Addison is salivating after this news… If he isn’t a moron this year, he’s gonna get $30-35 million per year when he hits the open market. TheLeviathan 1

But I'd guess teams would blacklist him for the wrong reason. Last I heard: Quote The NFL concluded that there was “insufficient evidence to support a finding of a personal conduct policy violation” for free agent WR Stefon Diggs. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports “at least” five teams have been checking in on free agent WR Stefon Diggs. My expectation is that he'll sign somewhere to be a starting receiver in the next month, unless something comes out about one of his multiple civil cases. Knowing NFL teams, this isn't enough to blacklist him.

This civil suit about him sexually assaulting a man seems like it's new news to everyone in the industry. But NFL investigation or not, that's immaterial as to the reason I think clubs will blacklist him.

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16 Posted July 16 I've been checked out of the NFL after the draft... Still some decent names available in FA. No idea if they're injured or just not good anymore... WR: Tyreek Hill (probably done that leg injury was gruesome), Deebo Samuel, Diggs, Brandin Cooks, Keenan Allen EDGE: Joey Bosa, Clowney, Haason Reddick, Von Miller (old) CB: Marshon Lattimore, Trevon Diggs, Kenny Moore By the way, since it's been radio silence from Harry the Hitman, are we to assume he's coming back?

Otherwise why wouldn’t he have been a part of the Ham and Thielen retirement party?

Sounds like Joey Bosa is retiring, or at least won't play in 2026. Tyreek had the Teddy Bridgewater dislocated knee and probably won't be healthy until 2027 and probably won't be the same player he was. Cornerback is such a volatile position, Lattimore and Diggs were terrible last year and it seems like really good CBs can fall off at age 28/29. A la Xavier Rhodes being a top 5 CB for 2 years and then by age 29 became a shell of his former self. Diggs, Allen, and Samuel can still be WR2s and will sign when they want to, there seems to be a tier of veteran player who is assumedly going to get a 1 year deal, so they wait it out and skip spring/summer practices. Speaking of old edge rushers, both Von Miller and Cameron Jordan had 9+ sacks in 2025 despite both being 36 years old. Jordan hit 10.5! Vanimal46 1

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Things aren't looking too good in Tampa at the moment. Baker wants a $50 million AAV extension, and their HC Bowles is certainly entering the season on the hot seat.

You don't want to give Mayfield a 50M deal, but that's the price these days and much worse QBs are getting paid that much or more. So they don't have a ton of good players, so why are they 27th in cap space? Answer, Tristan Wirfs has a 36M cap hit. He's definitely a good LT but but it looks like the cap hit was front loaded and it would actually save them money to cut him in the next couple of years. Is that what you want? His contract makes it look like they'll have to give good consideration to cutting him starting next year. Chris Godwin has a !33M! cap hit. I know he's well liked and a good player when healthy, but no team would have let that happen. Antoine Winfield is good, but he already peaked and he's got a 27M cap hit. Then this offseason, 10M to good-not-great A'Shawn Robinson and 7M to running back Kenneth Gainwell? Do they realize what year it is and how much you're supposed to pay running backs? Sorry, I don't actually care about Tampa one bit but went down a rabbit hole wondering what the hell is going on here. Vanimal46 1
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted August 10 Posted August 10 I've got a couple of NFL hot takes on my mind now that preseason is here... I've been seeing a lot of QB rankings lists with both Caleb Williams and Drake Maye as dang near consensus top 10 QBs. I think both are extremely overrated heading into the season. New England will get an inflated win total because 2 teams in their division are actively trying to go 0-17. Joe Burrow will be healthy the whole season and win the MVP. The Green Bay Packers will finish last in the NFC North. TheLeviathan and nicksaviking 2

The Green Bay Packers will finish last in the NFC North. I like all of your takes. With the first one in particular, I think people have blinders on. I do think Drake Maye is really good, but his season was pretty flukey, and I doubt it's repeatable because of the offense he is in. He threw for almost 4400 yards, but it was due to an unbelievably high completion percentage on deep balls. He put up those yards and threw for 31 TDs on less than 500 pass attempts, which makes sense because Mike Vrabel doesn't want to throw the ball. I will say, that if Maye is legit that good on deep balls and can hold a 72% completion percentage on 9 Yards per Attempt and 9.5 Air Yards per Attempt for his career, he's going to be better than Manning, Brady and Brees and Vrabel is going to waste his talent. As for Williams, he did improve last year, but only because they got him to cut his sacks down by 2/3rds. How is nobody noticing that he went from a pretty poor 62% completion percentage in his rookie year to what should be very concerning 58% last year? His reads are still slow too and it shows as he went from a 3.03 second average throw time in his rookie year to 3.25 seconds last year. I'm guessing like KOC, Ben Johnson has some longer developing plays, but any 'improvement' Williams showed had to be almost entirely due to the improved offensive line. And the Packers are the least talented team in the division. They've been playing above their skill level for a few years though. I think once they all acknowledge that they no longer have a generational QB leading them, the house of cards will collapse and they'll be bottom dwellers for a decent spell*. *Sigh, probably just wishful thinking Vanimal46 and TheLeviathan 2

He'll get a little boost playing 4 games against the lowly Jets and Dolphins, but beyond that, a 1st place schedule is going to be tough for him to repeat. 1 hour ago, nicksaviking said: As for Williams, he did improve last year, but only because they got him to cut his sacks down by 2/3rds. Yeah, I am at a loss why there's so much love for Caleb Williams. 58% completion percentage is a giant red flag. I think the shelf life of Ben Johnson is going to be really short as a HC. They also benefited from a last place schedule last year. I don't think they're going to do nearly as well this year with a 1st place schedule. 1 hour ago, nicksaviking said: And the Packers are the least talented team in the division. From your lips to the football gods' ears. No Micah Parsons for at least the 4-6 games of the season, if not longer. Their WR room is by far the least talented in the division. And frankly I don't think Matt LaFleur is a good HC. nicksaviking, Parfigliano and TheLeviathan 3
