After coming back from injury, Hendriks had one awful start, then one decent start, and then rattled off three excellent starts.

I'm hoping 2 of the 3 make the rotation next year to propel it from dismal to not so good. You're not so high on Worley, the others are looking better at this time?

At this point, I would like to see Diamond become the next Duensing (and what gives with Duening, he is supposed to be lefthadned long relief).

 

If the Twins can move Pelfry and Correia, and if not now, they will be put on waivers and become at least salary dumps in August, I see the Twins September rotation being Gibson, Blackburn, Worley, Deduno and Hendriks. The AAA team will have Hernandez, Albers, Darnell, Walters and May. Meyer is in the wings. Hermsen is a question.

 

That's what it is suddenly looking at.

 

I see DeVries and Hernandez both being better in long relief, if push comes to shove, and we see what eventually happens with Diamond.

 

The Twins bullpen could move Duensing, Swarzak (both because of arbitration) and Roeincke. I would be happy with Tonkin coming back up and Diamond moving to the bullpen. The only other relief that looks exciting is the aging Aaron Thompson, and the possible return next season of Lester Oliveros.

 

But, internally, we aren't as pitching rich for 2014 as we think (Blackburn...come on -- the Twins so want to play this guy rather than eat his salary, which they still are basically doing).

Alex Meyer is struggling in AA and injured.

No reason to see him/add him to the 40-man roster yet.

Blackburn makes me cringe, I sure hope I never have to see him again. TR better not decide to add him to the 40-man and lose a prospect for him.

Darnell has to be on the 40 man this offseason or risk being exposed to the Rule 5 draft. He's a prime candidate for a September call up after the minor league season ends.

Albers is now 2nd in the International league with 101 K's and only 27 BB's. The leader has 105 K's and 86 BB's by comparison. Also for those wanting to compare, Albers has a K/9 rate of 8.3 and Kyle Gibson had a K/9 rate of 7.7. I'd be interested to see if he can have any success agains't major leaguers other than Derek Jeter (Jeter was 0-2 against him in a rehab start).

 

What I do think is cool is that Darnell and Albers were on the same staff together at the University of Kentucky in 2008 (Albers had best whip and K/9 on entire staff) and both might make it to the Twins staff next year.
