The topic of the day for talking heads is Joe Burrow being introspective in his latest press conference. Talking about what’s the point of doing this if he’s no longer having fun? Playing on a team with a terrible OL and even worse defense is getting to him…

If he seeks a trade in the offseason, the Vikings need to move heaven and earth to make it happen. You send 3 1st round picks and don’t think twice. If it takes cutting other players to make the money work you do it.

I honestly don't know how the cap works but I think Burrow is untradable and his contact rockets to something like 75m in a few seasons. He'll also be 30 next year and has a history of injuries. 

And if he is on the trading block, the Jets have 5 first and 3 second round picks the next two years. So I don't think the vikes could match them if they went for it. 

In general, I agree with you. If we could get him he'd fit this offense perfectly. But I think the cost will be too much.

I think he needs to be traded after June one. 

Also, if the Jets get him, he'll be unhappy there, but they should also trade for Addison to help burrow..

Yeah if the Jets are in on him (as they should and frankly 20 other teams) they have by far the most draft capital to trade away. Best we could do is 3 1st round picks, and a couple of players like Turner and Redmond to help kickstart their D rebuild.

IIRC Aaron Rodgers reworked his contract to make him tradeable to the Jets. Burrow could do the same if he’s motivated to get out of Cincy

We probably would trade Addison beforehand to gain additional draft picks to add to the deal for Burrow

Fun to think about… I also wouldn’t be surprised if he retires at an early age like Andrew Luck. He’s taken a ton of hits and dealt with a lot of injuries

Addison was fine until this year, and I don't think it matters, because they aren't dealing for him.

Burrow would probably have some leverage....Vikings should definitely be aggressive.

But I have zero clue how they afford him with this FA stuffed, older team.

I mean, the center, both FA tackles, Smith, hockenson can all be gone. Trade Addison. Draft well. Win! 😍

That's why I say move heaven and earth to make it happen. The lost players in order to make the money work doesn't really matter because the upgrade at QB is massive.

I guess I'm wondering if it's even possible.  From what I can see you'd have to cut Hargave, Allen, Kelly, Hockenson, restructure Jefferson and O'Neill, probably Darrisaw too, trade McArthy and Addison.....and you might still not make enough ground on the cap to make it happen.

I'm sure with some shrewd moves they could (And I'm in on that) but it might be a lot of shuffling.  And would only further emphasize the need to actually hit on some draft picks.

A trade of Burrow likely includes a new contract extension as well to push out the large # cap hits. Still worth getting a top 5 QB in the game who has 5-7 great to elite years left in him. Burrow will be light years better than whatever McCarthy ends up being as a QB.

According to Spotrac we would only take on 26M.  It isn't even his deal as much as the bloated spending spree from last year.

Yeah I assume the Vikings win a few more games down the stretch. They went 3-6 after losing Kirk. Probably don’t end up with mccarthy

I think you have to trade JJM Addison and two more 1st. 

And I do it. I want a young elite QB, but I don't think you should ever pass up the chance to get a current elite QB.
