Dave Borton Verified Member Posted August 13, 2025 Posted August 13, 2025 Listened to the Dodgers game, where they announced Stewart was down for the count. 15-day IL, shoulder inflammation, where it is hoped he could return before the end of the season. https://www.mlb.com/news/dodgers-injuries-and-roster-moves

This is also why I wasn't overly concerned about the return for him.

Then we had the 2.5 hour silence in between the announcement and finalized deal. Stewart’s medicals must be horrific and the Dodgers took the other prospect off the table. This makes a lot of sense to me - Stewart might not pitch another 80 innings in his career. He's that much of a ticking time-bomb IMO.

He only had 1.095 years of service entering the season. Am I missing something? EDIT to add, from MLB Trade Rumors: "This is Outman’s final minor league option year. He can back up Byron Buxton in center or spend the remainder of the season at Triple-A St. Paul. The Twins would need to decide whether to carry him on the Opening Day roster next season or expose him to waivers." So they have team control -- he's just not optionable.

Thank you, I thought I read he was a FA after next year. Appreciate it!

Trov Verified Member Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 I doubt there was much offers for Stewart. Yes, he had some good innings with us, he had some bad ones, but overall he spent more time in the trainer room than in the pen. Fans here overvalued him due to his what if he stays healthy upside he showed for us. His track record was that he never will stay healthy. Any team that traded for him was not going to give a legit prospect, or their FO would be attacked by fans like ours was for the Dyson trade. Keep in mind we really did not give up much in that deal either but people act like we gave up a huge prospect.
