The only reason Fisher is doing this is to hit a minimum payroll threshold so he can continue receiving revenue sharing

They regained compliance for revenue sharing with the other owners three years ago in 2022, which is why they brought their payroll all the way up to 60M. They could have done this the last several years but didn't solely to continue crying poor and stick it to Oakland:

The A's signing Severino made Paddack more valuable (not too valuable but having some value).
