Mark my words: If this front office/ownership shed payroll at the deadline..........................

Without adding any major league talent then this team will implode and I honestly would not blame the players.

A clear message needs to be sent to ownership that we don't need to put up with this crap anymore if this is what happens.

I hope I am wrong.

Here's the vibe of this year's deadline so far:

All other contending teams, including the two that the Twins are currently chasing (Guardians and Yankees): "Good news! We've improved our team at the deadline."

Twins: "Good news! Our fans will soon be able to watch our games on television. Also - I heart money!"

They won't shed payroll but they will not add anyone. The front office, and by no means will I blame them for this because their hands are tied, will have to get in front of the cameras and talk about how Correa and Topa returning from the IL is better than any trade they could have made.

I don’t see them shedding payroll because it seems they have an unrealistic amount of value assigned to guys like Kepler and Margot

Doing nothing is a problem for me. They have a very strong farm system and strong major league talent. They cut payroll this past offseason, passing on the chance to turn this team into a legit WS contender. If they sit on their hands here then that tells me that they’re expecting payroll to continue to drop or stay at the level it’s at and that just being good enough is all that matters. It seems they have no interest in trading farm talent for a rental and a chance to win the title.

it’ll be a return to the Gardy and Ryan days of just being good enough to not draw too much ire from fans. Luckily we have an actually good GM nowadays, but unluckily for us he’s likely going to move on to another team in the next few years.

It’s time for Correa to speak up. He came here because he was under the impression they would go big. Instead they cut payroll and likely won’t act on his desire to add pitching. He literally spoke up about this a few weeks ago.

He’s gotta be pissed right now

Not sure if it was tongue in cheek media speculation, but didn't Correa tell the front office about pitchers they should look to acquire? And he definitely went on record about the Twins needing pitching. Star players can sometimes sway a front office, but not sure Correa's going to get the Pohlad's to open their check book.

Agreed, not sure exactly what Correa said but twins media sure made it seem like he spoke to Falvey and they agreed upon what was needed

Correa won't speak up.

That's what he pays Scott Boras for. He's not afraid to call out teams in the off season.

If he says anything publicly it will be an anology like his Dior belt comment in year 1 with the Twins. He is careful about his public comments.

I’m not expecting comments to be made publicly but I do imagine something will be said to at least Falvey or someone on his team. I doubt they have very much contact with Joe Pohlad
