As an aside...

It's wild to me how hated Correa is in this area. Might be public enemy #1 for Yankee fans. Wore a Correa shirt in Newark airport last week and was greeted with a handful of hecklers including a TSA agent who said he shouldn't let me through if I'm a Correa fan. The Yanks need to quit crying about 2017 and 2019.

Imagine that, a New Yorker shooting their mouth off.  That group loves to hear themselves talk and they say some of the dumbest things.  Having spent time around golf tournaments at Bethpage and Shinnecock, some of the stuff they'll say to players was as idiotic as it came.  That city can go another 100 years without a championship and it won't be enough.

The analytics gurus have come to the conclusion that he can't play against a LH pitcher and that sitting out 4 games in a row will send him on a heater.

Or a ruster.

Old style things to think about.

1. What is Met short for? Presuming of course Mets is the plural of Met.

2. Cellars and buyers. Discuss.

3. Folk talk about good pitching and good hitting, but rarely about evil pitching or hitting? Where are the Ty Cobbs of this era?

4. Woods Richardson. Pitching pipeline or cunning Berrios trading acquisition. PS heir apparent to as many letters as possible on one's jersey. Pushing boundaries is important.

5. Parity or parody. Would you prefer each sports team having a legit chance to be champs? Or the musical machinations of the likes of Weird Al.

Sorry i phone it in even when i take the time to do anything...

1.  Already answered.  Just like Astros is short for Trash Can Clankers, er, I mean, Astronauts.

2. No cellars in Florida.  I miss them.  We had a kickass one growing up but it had water problems so we couldn't finish it the way we wanted to.  Still good for ping-pong and setting up the batting net in the winter to hit off the tee.

3.  That Marsh dude for Philly looks like he could be good for the evil role with all that hair all over the place.  Either that or he'd be the Cousin It of MLB's Addams Family (Judge plays Lurch).

4.  Whatever SWR did in the offseason has paid off very handsomely.  His upward track is making that Berrios trade look outstanding.

5.  Since I've always been an underdog backer, I like parity a bunch.  Always like to think that my team has a chance no matter how stacked the budgets are.  As a fan of comedy, Weird Al needs to make another album.  Can you imagine what he'd do with Taylor Swift?

2. Pale Hose are deeply in the cellar. They've had three 14-game losing streaks in their entire history. Two have been in the last nine weeks. On pace for 122 losses.

Couldn't happen to a better team.

3. Yes. But Woods Richardson is short of Encarnacion-Strand.

Why Buxton was anchored to first base with 0 & 1 out was mystifying.

Might want to key on Quintana's changeup and then not chase it.  He hasn't thrown it for a strike yet (blue gave him that 2-0 pitch to Willi.

Fun things with trades: In a few weeks, Danny Jansen could become the first guy to play for both teams in a single game. The Red Sox and Blue Jays had a game suspended in the second inning in May and are scheduled to complete it in August. The Red Sox DFAed Reese Olson after acquiring Jansen, so they will need to bring in a new catcher.

It could have been even better. Jansen was at the plate with an 0-1 count when the game was suspended. Had it been 0-2 and the pinchhitter struck out, it would have been charged to Jansen, meaning he could have received both the offensive strikeout and the defensive putout on the same play.
