Good for Hader and good for the Astros. The end of games were tough last year versus the Astros and now it might be even more difficult to come back late against Houston.

Will be interesting to see how they deploy him and Pressly. I'd guess Hader is taking over the closer role, but wonder if Pressly becomes a fireman type weapon or just slides into an 8th inning role.

Presley is 35 and a FA after this season, they may ask him to accept that role or they may try and trade him to get something instead of just letting him walk (he absolutely accepts the QO if offered, highly doubtful they offer it though).

He has a vesting option on his deal for 2025 that's very likely to vest if he doesn't get hurt. So he's not necessarily a free agent after this season. I'd be a little surprised if they trade him. Not shocked, but a little surprised. Their bullpen was a little bumpy last year and I'd guess they're looking to milk whatever last WS titles they can out of the Altuve and Bregman years.

Or they trade Pressly  , houston just went over the tax threshold and the word is they were trying to stay under , but when graveman went down  they went for the big gun Hader  ...

Yeah, certainly a possibility. I'd be a little surprised as they're a team trying to win a title and their pen was a bit of a problem last year so I'm not sure they'd want to just do a swap at closer.

Makes sense , now that they are over the first threshold  , they might as well get alittle more help in pitching and go for another title , I thought maybe their window was starting to close last year  , they still have a  great lineup but age is creeping up on some ...

Yeah, they seem to getting to a transition point from Altuve and Bregman to Tucker and Alvarez. Be interesting to see how they handle the aging stars.

19 million a year for a 1-inning-at-a-time relief pitcher . . . wow. Hader is a great closer, but for 55 innings a year, 19 million?
