Which Team Will be the Next to Win a Championship?

After a thorough drubbing by Green Bay, it appears the Vikings will miss the postseason again in 2023-24. Minnesota hasn't had a champion in a major men's professional sport since the Twins won the World Series in 1991. Which team will break through?

Mods--please feel free to move this to another forum (Other Sports) if you see fit. I feel like the Twins forum gets more views and it is Twins-related, but it also refers to the other Minnesota sports teams.

Since the Twins won the World Series in 1991, the major men's sports in Minnesota have won zero championships. The Vikings have had some good teams, but they've lost in the playoffs each time, not reaching the Super Bowl in the last thirty-plus years. The North Stars moved and the expansion Wild replaced them. The Wild has made the playoffs with some regularity, but seem to be slipping from playoff relevance. The Timberwolves have been mostly a mess, although this year they are among the best regular season teams. The Twins last year broke a record post-season losing streak, but haven't reached the ALCS since winning in '91, and they have announced they will cut payroll this year.

I'm a Twins fan first and an indifferent follower of the other pro teams. I think there's hope for my favorite team, but have a hard time seeing them beat teams with more than twice the payroll. I truly don't know who will break through, but it seems long past time for another world champion Minnesota franchise.

WE're probably cursed but I voted for the Wolves. I'll just focus on 2024 as it is too hard to look too far ahead. Vikings, who will now be 47 years w/o a Super Bowl appearance, are already eliminated. Wild, seem to be in a forever mediocre mode, never real good. Never real bad. This season looks more of the same. No Cup in 2024. Twins. We imo have too many holes. Both SP and in the lineup. We'll be good enough to win a weak division but not much farther. The Wolves. I voted for them as they look like they have a legitimate team this year. I'm not really following them at all but they have dominated. It's hard to get on board with a franchise that for years has set the standard of a year is a great success if they avoid 50 losses. But right now I'd give them about a 25% chance to win the Championship in 2024, which is really good. We'll see how the rest of the season plays out.

As incredible it is to even think it is possible... Right now, it's the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Vikings will be never win the Super Bowl. The Wild are the definition of mediocre. Our Twins have a long shot chance due to the expanded MLB playoffs and the randomness recently experienced in the playoffs. Shockingly, the forever terrible Timberwolves have a legitimate team so far this season and appear to have a decent chance at an NBA title in 2024.

I think in the long run it seems to be the Twins have the best shot at championships.  A baseball team has the advantage of being able to draft and develop.  So even when the Twins are crappy for a year or two they have a chance to rebound with development.  It seems the other teams have to draft and win right away and that is really hard to do.  Plus at least with the Vikings they always seem to have an outside shot so they perpetually try to add that one piece to get them over the top and it never works.  Realistically the Vikings have a bad team with like 5 really good players.  The O-line can't stop anyone and the D can't put pressure on anyone unless they are blitzing.  So I'd give the Vikings a shot if they just blew the whole thing up, got rid of everyone.  Go out and lose, save all of their money, get high draft picks and build a Defense and an O-line.  Then use the money you saved and get a QB either with one of the top picks in the draft or through free agency.  Then they'd have a shot, it would take a couple of years of straight up losing but then they could put the blue print together.  The Wild, I'm not sure what they would need to do, and if the Wolves can do well this year then who knows when they will do well again because it always seems like the best players go to places like LA and not really Minnesota?  I think with minor leagues baseball teams still have the easiest way to build a sustainable franchise?

It’s possible the Twolves pull out some magic in the next 3 years but my $$$ is on the twins after the twolves blow their opportunity  this year or next. Twins best chance is 25 or 6 but any thing can happen in 24. Happy new year!!

As we saw last year anything can happen in the MLB playoffs in spite of the unfair financial structure. Just another reason why I love baseball. The Wolves have the best current team, but they are the Wolves so, yep, not happening, lol. The Wild are about to get out of the ridiculous cap hell they've been saddled with, have one of the highest rated prospect groups, a good coach and GM. They are my second pick. Of course I'm taking the Twins!!!

Wolves are by no means the favorites but they have a team this year that looks like it could be a real contender if health holds.  They have the single biggest piece in town with Edwards, as well as the best front office, and coach.  New ownership finally taking all the way over is going to be great for them as well.

Twins have a punchers chance, they should win the weak division again and baseball playoffs are a crap shoot.  Lack of a 2nd playoff starter is currently their biggest black eye to me.

Vikings are their competitive rebuild crap are not going to do anything in the years they sneak into the playoffs.  Gotta have a HOFer or a great rookie on that cheap contract at QB to win in the NFL playoffs.

Wild/timberwolves and twins are going to win championship in the next 5 years. Once wild get out of salery hell look out!!! Vikings are rebuilding and within 5 years they will finally with Super Bowl!!! Wolves are going to be one of top team next year and will comeback with a vengeance! Twins as well. It’s going to happen!!! It won’t be one but multiple championships!!!
