2 game suspension plus a fine for "intentionally" throwing at Adolis Garcia in Friday game.

It was the 8th inning Texas was up 4-2 and had a guy on 1st base with no outs.  Seems like a really dumb time for Houston to deciede to intentionally hit a guy no matter what he had done at the plate earlier.  Seems like an even dumber over reaction by MLB to issue the suspension.

Don't throw at another player of you don't want to be suspended.  Not an over-reaction by MLB.  Erase those stupid unwritten rules.  Start by getting rid of these old-men managers.  Bochy had his pitcher drill Ryan Jeffers after he celebrated a big homerun.

I dont think he was intentionally thrown at.  I dont think Houston is that dumb.  I dont think any unwritten rules were involved.  I think Adolis Garcia over reacted as did MLB.

Tough to over react if you’re hit by 98Mph around your shoulder. Pretty easy to get heated about that even if you struck out the previous 3 at bats. If you just hit a 3 run HR in the ALCS it just elevates the reaction. He didn’t really do anything but yell and get a little rammy with the catcher.

That said, no intelligent baseball manager nor team would throw at a guy late in a game with a runner already on base and down 2 runs. Can’t imagine justifying hitting the batter & it being seen as an OK baseball move in a competitive game TO GET TO WORLD SERIES - NO WAY!

The suspension is nuts!!

Do you have any evidence for that?

Honestly no excuse for Garcia not to be suspended as well, considering how everything played out.

But no chance it was on purpose.

As soon as it he hit, watched it and took forever to circle the bases you knew that someone was going to get beaned.  And you believe that it was magic that he was the batter that was HBP?  Not me!

Abreu is a young pitcher. There are few players in baseball today who care at all about how a player celebrates, unless they specifically and aggressively address another player in an attempt to ridicule.

Who has hit 12 and walked 85 in 180 career innings.  His calling card is not pinpoint control.  Magic is only factors you don't see.

Interestingly, in the playoffs he has hit 2 and walked 8 in 18.1 innings, an oddly similar ratio.  Huh.

Garcia could get plunked in ten games against the Astros next year and I wouldn't be surprised.  This, would blow my mind if it was on purpose.

Players should treat opposing players with the same respect as teammates, because they may be teammates someday.

There is quite a bit of mutual respect common in baseball today. The field coaches and managers as well as players know they could be on a different team next year. If you look around the game today you can see a number of major superstars who were traded or left their former teams via free agency.

But, yes I agree with you as do the players.

He plays for an old-time manager who knows nothing but this stupid eye-for-an-eye crap down to his bones.

I think you're way off base on your assumptions here. Dusty Baker is trying to win the World Series, not get revenge on a player who pimped a homerun. Adolis hit a grand slam last night and posed for that one, too. Do you think he's getting plunked in game 7? He hit a bomb and jumped down the first baseline in game 4 and I don't remember Dusty going "old-time manager who knows nothing but this stupid eye-for-an-eye crap" on him in that game. If Dusty, or anyone else on the Astros, wanted to get back at Adolis for how he reacted to any HR in this series they'd wait til next year and put 98 in his ribs then. But his HR celebrations aren't out of the norm anymore, and there's very little "eye-for-an-eye crap" done in baseball anymore.

I don't know if this is a bot, but the comment certainly lacks any knowledge of baseball as a base. I believe the phrase "old-time manager" is a reference to Dusty Baker, in which case one should understand this is easily one of the most respected people in MLB today. "Eye-for--an-eye" has been so rare that I cannot recall the last clear retaliation in baseball; it's nearly gone.

Yes I'm a bot.  At least this bot can remember Ryan Jeffers getting intentionally hit by Texas on 8/25 after hitting a huge HR in the 8th inning on 8/24 and celebrating big time.  Just look at Houston's catcher's response when Garcia turns to yell at him.  His look says , 'yeah, I'm embarassed by what my team just did'.
