Squirrel Community Moderator Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 And then there was silence.... heh ... as I said ... I couldn't relate. That's an experience I have never had and never will, thanks to not having that particular 'achilles heel' anatomy.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 We'll probably hear that from Harry too many times this season...
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Pseudo, we need a weather update.I see nothing but blueskies. I'm the Dr. Stat of weathermen.
mikeee Provisional Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I am grilling burgers... Why the *& can't they play ball??!?!?!
stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I certainly want the Twins to do well. I also want them to face reality and quit pretending that they can contend this year. They need to do what is right for the development of their young talent. I think they may need to send Hicks down and I wouldn't rule the same out for Arcia (if some of you haven't noticed, he hasn't hit the ball very well lately). OTOH, it is time for Gibson to arrive and get his 100 innings in "at the major league level", and perhaps they need to find out about Deduno, Walters, Albers and De Vries.
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Should be a pretty decent short downpour hitting Target Field in about 30 minutes
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Play resumed. Looks like pretty good seats for the hundred or so fans remaining.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 At least we won't have to watch them flail or freeze in the face of Lackey's baffling stuff any more.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 You know you're scuffling when you get pinch hit for by a guy hitting .197...
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 I forget... is Mauer "clutch" or not this year?
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 That was it. Couldn't draw it up any better for the Twins or Mauer there.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Well, it was a month and a half of interesting baseball. See you next year!
snepp Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I've harped on the "bullpen is guaranteed to give up more homers" narrative plenty, but that's not exactly what I had in mind.
GCTF Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 If the Red Sox score and no one was there to watch it, do the runs count?
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 And I don't care that officially that was scored a home run. If Hammer simply doesn't attempt for it, it's a double. Since it was in his glove and bounced it, it would be a four base error, or two base error since it would have been a double.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Well, it was a month and a half of interesting baseball. See you next year!Oh, c'mon. The thin veneer of competence could last for several more days. Weeks even.
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 I'll predict that two of Morneau, Plouffe, Arcia strike out to end this gem. I really don't like being cynical either, but this is the current of the river.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 If the Red Sox score and no one was there to watch it, do the runs count?Ultimately mlb is bound to get wind of the loss, if not all the actual boring details...
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 So, you mean we can't have a bottom half offense and a bottom half starting pitching staff and stay above .500?

stringer bell Verified Member Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 While I hate seeing the Twins get swept at home, maybe the Front Office will process the losses and do what they can to help themselves down the road.

If we get that far down the card, it means good things could* happen. *By could, I mean load the bases again and strand everyone to end the game.
