Looks like Sano is out for a while.

Depth is good. Don't understand why many on this board are calling for trading it away, especially so early.

There seems to be a need here for some one to be the brunt of ire.

Agree. First time i have seen the change and it won't last three years I would bet. That configuration is dangerous. Gordon makes that catch if it is not a corner to die on. MLB forgot to check the design change.

Someone is gonna seriously hurt with that stupid wall in LF.  I can't see how that got approved. I read that they moved the distance back, but I hadn't seen exactly what they did. Not only is it dangerous, they took HR's away from their righty batters.

In this series’ installment of Shopping With The Enemy, I bet that Orioles fan in your life likes to play pool. According to yelp there is an establishment in Baltimore called Gentlemen’s Cue that is surprisingly not a strip club.

first up this really ugly billiards triangle

second we have kinda nifty retro billiard ball set

Third we have a really inexpensive pool table.

wait, that’s not a pool table, it’s just a cloth for $574 and it doesn’t appear to be felt either.

So for just shy of $1000 you don’t even get a table or a cue… I don’t think I can afford billiards :(

at least not with orioles fans

Presumably, you still have to install it too!

Sounds like a possible GoT fan fiction or something — you should write it with Sano as main character! :)

I prefer Jeffers.?

This game is looking more like 2-3 or 3-2.

Joe Smith with the funky escape double-play ball! Really hope he keeps this up.

Are we totally sure that Joe smith is NOT a magician?

I think the only other possibilities are wizard or sorcerer.

Between all the moves the Twins made in the offseason I admittedly didn't pay much attention to Joe Smith.

But he has been so good. You can just put him out there in any situation and he gets the job done, gets easy double play grounders almost at will and I don't think anyone has gotten hard contact in the air off him.

Great signing.

That Paddack start leaves me saying Meh. The results were good, but the O's lineup is one of the worst in the league, and he only got swings and misses on the changeup (and 1 on a slider which I think was really a curve, it was the only one statcast says he threw). Fastball velo stays solid. However, he gave up a bunch of loud contact that turned into outs and got bailed out by Smith. However, good results are always better than bad results. I still feel pretty good about the trade.

Sano has earned $1.5MM so far this season (1/6 of $9.25MM) but according to fangraphs his production thus far has been worth -$6MM. If the Mets can justify DFAing Cano and his remaining $40MM for lack of production, I think the Twins can justify eating the $7.5MM owed Sano (didn't include the $2.75MM buy out option for next season). He is completely clueless at the plate and is a defensive liability.

He’s basically the outcome we all hoped Trevor Hildenberger could be as a sidearm specialist.

This will never happen, but I've said it for a few years. If a runner beats the ball to the bag, he shouldn't have to stay on for every little frame.

Cutting injured players. Always a classy move that brings the clubhouse together.

Replay has improved the game for the most part, but this is an example of how it's changed the game for the worse. Gordon beat the throw, should have been safe, but was only called out because of a non-baseball related technicality. The ump only called him "out" because he thought that maybe Gordon's knee came off the bag for a millisecond.

From 1889-2008 that's a stolen base. It's not in the spirit of the game for him to be called out there.

Where would you draw the line though? The ump just gave the call to Baltimore, could've gone either way.

Agree 100%, that out call isn't in the spirit of the game. You said it much more clearly than I did.

The rule should be "as long as the runner beats the ball to the bag and his slide is 'controlled' he should be awarded the base". Gordon was in control of his slide, he didn't overslide the bag and beat the throw. Safe.

Keep running a guy out there who is an automatic K in every situation and expecting different results is the definition of what??
