To be fair, I think Rosario threw a one-hop strike to the exact correct spot, but apparently some infielder neglected to cover it?

Sorry. I was too lazy to look beyond the score of boxes...

Thanks to Eddie Rosario I feel like I am having a baseball season!  I forgot what that felt like I watched more Atlanta games on TV than Twins.  Partly because I have DISH TV w/o FSN.  Watched on my iPad only when Berrios was pitching.  It is so nice to watch on TV!  This is the most fun baseball I have had in a long time.  Last nights game was a nail biter for sure!   Eddie is hanging in there for sure!

We're trending toward a World Series where I wish both teams could lose

Why bother watching then?

Rosario only 1 for 3 with a run scored.

Guess they don't need much from him today...

The Twins would love a .333 hitter!

Looks like dueling bullpen games for Saturday and Sunday? Zack Greinke is listed as the nominal starter for Houston tonight, but he's only pitched 2.1 innings across 2 appearances so far in the postseason (and didn't pitch much the last month of the regular season), so I doubt he goes very deep.

If you are a Twins fan and even more if you are just a baseball fan, you have to love the postseason with Eddie Rosario. He just looks so happy and is having fun.

Rosario hit a one-out double off a lefty and came around to score Atlanta’s first run in the 6th, but as mentioned above, it was his catch to end the 8th that will get the most attention:

Eddie Rosario’s running catch

Announcers said that ball (distance/angle) would have been a HR in 26 out of 30 parks, including. Houston. Wasn’t quite going to be a HR in Atlanta but could have put the tying run in scoring position for the Astros, if not for Rosario.

Turns out Greinke went 4 innings last night and Kyle Wright went 4.2 for Atlanta, so this “dueling bullpen game” didn’t look much different than the average modern start.

I was wrong about Sunday, though — the Astros are using traditional starter Framber Valdez to start game 5 today. Not sure how I overlooked that, Valdez started game 1 so he is on normal rest for game 5. Of course, Valdez has starts of 4.1, 2.2, and just 2.0 innings so far this postseason, although due to ineffectiveness rather than any strategic decision. (To be fair, he also has the longest start of the postseason at 8 IP.)

Atlanta would counter with their game 1 starter Charlie Morton if not for that whole “broken leg” thing, so Atlanta will indeed have another bullpen game. Drew Smyly and Tucker Davidson would be obvious candidates to go some length for Atlanta, but a wild card is AJ Minter, normally a short reliever but he did go 3 innings, 42 pitches in a “start” during the 2020 NLCS, and he didn’t pitch in game 4 Saturday night.

Thanks.  Went to bed, so I didn’t see this live!

Travel day today (Monday) as the series shifts back to Houston for Game 6 on Tuesday night.

Atlanta will have a real starting pitcher again in Game 6 (Max Fried), and presumably in Game 7 too if necessary (Ian Anderson).

The presumed Astros Game 6 starter would be Jose Urquidy who started and got the win opposite Fried in Game 2, but Urquidy threw an inning of relief (and also got the win) last night in Game 5, on 14 pitches. Luis Garcia is the other healthy starter for the Astros but he'd be on short rest for Game 6 (regular rest for Game 7).

EDIT: apparently Dusty Baker has already announced that the Astros intend to start Luis Garcia in Game 6, on short rest. (Which would explain the Urquidy relief appearance last night.)

No more baseball unless you pilgrimage to Arizona.

Or the Dominican Republic, or Mexico...

Or you have MLB.TV which is streaming all of the Dominican Winter League games live.

Oh yeah. Them too.

Or if you just grab a bat, ball and a few gloves and a bunch of friends.
