Why? Baseball still celebrates Jackie Robinson. Many of our most iconic moments - especially in civil rights - are tied directly to sports. Frankly, it's one of the reasons I like sports and athletes. I understand for some there is this desire to have something that let's us ignore the present but sports has always been political (think of all the rich owners using fans to get stadiums built by cities and states for them).

Yeah I get that. Jackie Robinson is a great person. But celebrate whether or not to terrorize and loot small businesses? Give me a break

No one is celebrating here and sports are not encouraging or supporting this. This is where genuine discussion crosses the line to disingenuous rhetoric, so cross it back over.

No one is celebrating looting.

And this conversation is drifting dangerously close to political talk so everyone, do your best to steer clear of drawing partisan lines in the sand and using partisan talking points to bolster your argument.

I think this link should be ok under this site's rules. I will tell you that, in legal circles, this opinion went off like a bomb. It made front page news nationally and many people, including me, hope that it might be the opinion that ends up being credited with ending a legal concept called qualified immunity.

I'm sharing it because I think it might be important for you to read at least the first five pages. Comments like yours are pretty common and we could fight and then squirrel would be mad and no one wants that. Instead, just take five minutes, read the beginning of this and see if you still think the Twins or athletes in general are supporting looting or something more.

The press release on MLB tv certainly made it seem more political reasons rather than safety reasons. I’m sick of politics in sports

Like giant flags, the national anthem, and endless promos and flyovers for the military? Or just some politics?

This is a terrible decision, and I responded to you at length last year when you first (as far as I'm aware) shared it.  The link to my post is below.  The belief that there is an epidemic of police shooting black people for no reason whatsoever is completely unsupported by any evidence whatsoever, regardless of what the Judge in this case wants to believe personally.

They were able to move the Vikings game to Detroit in a day after its roof collapsed, it is definitely doable

IIRC, the game was on a Tuesday, so they had two days.  I also assume neither team stayed overnight, nor were there any COVID concerns.  It certainly is doable to move sporting events on extremely short notice, but I was reacting to the characterization of moving the series to Boston as making too much sense, which at least in my mind, implied straightforwardness/ease of execution.
