Mauer could pull the ball, he just rarely did

He pulled the ball on 3 hops to the 2nd baseman all the time.

 

Teams eventually didn't even bother playing a right fielder against Mauer.

 

If he COULD pull the ball in the air, why didn't he?

I don’t know, he had power. He pulled one over the right field wall once at Target Field, hit it hard too, surprised everybody
