Baby Blues Are Back!

Hoping for something other than blinding white or midnight black for Players' Weekend this year. That's the weekend to have fun with the uniforms. (And it's always enjoyable to read about the Yankees crying that they're the Yankees and shouldn't wear different uniforms.)

Disgusting. I prefer a team that looks like it's playing baseball, and not going to a slumber party. And Pucket, Hrbek and Gaetti looked better in the pinstripes.

At least the belts are there now.  The Pittsburgh Pirates introduced the elastic, pajama look.  Really dreadful.

I finally got to make my first visit to Target Field this past summer (Yes, I've been to the old Met and the Metrodome), and I had the bad luck to be there for Players' Weekend.  Bad planning!  So much for seeing my team in their home uniforms...

I like ‘em...especially without the silly original belt/pants. Would I say they’re in my top 3...no, but way better than some recent alternates...and they were due.

The powder blues recall the heartbreaks of being in the bleachers at the Met in the '70s, and the futility in the Hump during the early '80s:

  • Killebrew's released!
  • Oliva's bad knees
  • Carew traded!
  • Hisle released!
  • Bombo released!
  • Bostock's untimely death
  • Griffith's mouth
  • Blyleven's middle finger
  • Koosman's wasted 20 win season
  • Pelican Rapids own Dave Goltz' dignified suffering
  • Corbett's momentary brilliance
  • Gardner's incompetence
  • Ron Davis
  • '73, 81 - 81; '74, 82 - 80; '75, 76 - 83; '76, 85 - 77; '77, 84 - 77; '78, 73 - 89; '79, 82 - 80; '80, 77 - 84; '81,  41 - 68; '82, 60 - 102; '83, 70 - 92; '84, 81 - 81; '85, 77 - 85; '86, 71 - 91

Hard to fathom how that design could be called, "popular."  Keep the "TC" logo, Minnie & Paul.  The rest of the kit from that era can go in the bin.

Yeah, I was most definitely not a fan of the ‘Spy vs Spy’ look and hope they don’t repeat that.

Add:  Danny Thompson's fatal illness.

These are soooooo ugly! Their Blue and Red uniforms are so much prettier....Maybe they should have took that wasted money and bought a pitcher?
