Jaylin Davis has turned it UP another notch after joining the Giants

Davis was having a fantastic season for the Twins before being traded for Dyson.  I wanted to take a look to see how his numbers looked for the Giants and was blown away.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him up with the Giants soon.  There's also a ton of buzz being generated about him by national some national outlets, funny to see what blowing up at AAA for a more major market does ;)

Jaylin Davis's numbers in 18 games for the Giants at AAA:

.403/.494/.940 (that's slugging % not OPS!)/1.434 OPS

18 runs - 6 2Bs - 10 HRs - 23 RBIs

He's now got  57 runs - 17 2Bs - 1 3B - 25 HRs - 65 RBIs with a .353/.433/,788/1.211 slash line in 59 AAA games.

That's a per 162 game pace of:

157 runs - 47 2Bs - 3 3Bs - 68 HRs - 178 RBIs with a .353/.433/1.211 slash line.

This is how it is supposed to work.  A guy who was blocked on one team has a clearer path to the majors on another team. I sure hope he does well.  He was a long shot to make it to begin with.  I think the Giants got a good deal there.  I don't think he will disappoint.

Jaylin Davis debuts in RF tonight for the Giants. Here's a capsule review from NBC Sports:

"...Giants people have described Davis, called up Wednesday, as a good runner, and that certainly showed as he got his first big league hit out of the way. Davis did so quickly, reaching on an infield single in his first at-bat. He hit a slow grounder to third and got up to 30.1 feet per second while beating out a wide throw.

That was the second-best sprint speed of the season by a Giant, trailing just an Austin Slater dash of 30.4 feet per second. Anything above 30 is considered elite..."

An infield hit and a BB for Davis. I must admit, I didn't know Davis possessed this much speed. Nice combo with his power burst. The Giants press is giddy about a guy they assumed was just another power bat.

The article has a quote from Davis, as well. Seems like he has a nice shot at a decent major league career.

24th round draft pick by the Twins. Kudos to Ricky Taylor, who signed him ( I hope he got the proper love from the previous and current FO for his fine work). You can't fault the Twins for making the move, hopefully it works out for the best for both teams. It was just very unfortunate that the Twins couldn't have worked out a larger deal with the Giants that involved Bumgarner and additional Twins prospects in the transaction.

And in his debut, Jaylin Davis was replaced in a double-switch by Taylor Rogers' twin brother Tyler, who eventually got his first major league win (albeit by allowing inherited runners to score and blowing the lead).

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt that you don't know the origin of your word choice.
Probably best to toss that one from your vocabulary in the future though.

I did not know about the origin, but I was obviously not trying to use it in a derogatory way other than to say the Twins got the bad end of a deal (it appears) because they got damaged gods.  I deleted my post to not have others associate me with the word choice.

I apologize to any who may have been offended by that word choice.

I assumed you didn't. Most people don't know the origin. I used it as well before I did. Growing up everyone just used it all the time and you never really thought about it.

I deleted my post quoting you as well.

Thank you for enlightening me.
