GAME THREAD: Twins @ (Devil) Rays 6/2/2019 12:10CDT

It is June 2, and the Twins still have the best record in baseball and have yet to have a 3 game losing streak. Is the sky falling?!?

I29-flooded.jpg

Sadly, it quite literally is. While this isn't necessarily close to me, it reminds me of a lot of flooding I saw going down to Kansas City last weekend. In my area, many fields won't be planted, and some roads and bridges were taken out by the floodwaters. Many major roads will be closed in need for repair for quite some time However, this is nothing compared to the devastation I saw heading south on Interstate 29 (which is currently closed due to flooding). Houses halfway under water, cattle desperately clinging onto little islands of ground, and bins full of grain exploded due to the water pressure.

It may not be talked about much on a national level, but this will end up being one of the most expensive natural disasters in American history. Major towns have been under water (Davenport, Iowa), levees are being damaged and people's lives are truly in danger. Many Twins fans are experiencing this devastation. Let's all hope for summer to take away this significant flooding.

Out of all of this, people still continually ask me about the Twins. This team is giving optimism to many people who wouldn't have much to be cheerful about otherwise. No matter what the team does the rest of the year, it has already given so much joy to its fanbase.

Starting Pitchers:

Jake Odorizzi, MIN 7-2, 2.16 ERA, 58.1 IP

Ryan Yarbrough, TBR, 4-1, 5.53 ERA, 27.2 IP

Lineups TBD

Let's hope the true starting pitcher that the Rays would take back in a heartbeat wins this final game of the series.

Play ball!

That was a fairly easy swap ... Littel for Garver. Who goes when Cruz comes back?

Arraez hasn't played since Thursday. If he isn't going to play... he's the guy.

Am I the only one driven nuts by the fact that Astudillo is batting 3rd again?  The guy has zero plate discipline, a team-low .677 OPS, and is an awful baserunner.  It's nice to have a 3rd catcher, but he shouldn't be getting DH at-bats and if he's in the line-up he should be near the bottom.  Kepler was 2/3 with a HR off today's SP, probably would have rather seen him in the lineup despite a left-hander pitching.

Yeah, kind of ... but mostly I don't question it because, well ... 39-18. The manager must know something. Maybe it's foreshadowing ... Cruz will take that place when he returns ...

and costing Odorizzi called strikes.

That's not his fault... It's mine.

I had no other options. I had to start Diaz on my fantasy team today and I'm a winner.

Garver picking up right where he left off.

Love It.

A rare sighting of the elusive creature known as "RiverBrian."

Riverbrian's are rare but if you leave a plate of Buffalo Wings in the backyard... they will come around.

I am

The league actually spends significant time pondering it's existence.

something I and the league have in common.

I ponder your existence too.

Bunting in the 2nd...not very sabermetric.

We'll take it.

Odorizzi respect? Thinking that 1 run in the 2nd will be enough?
