That being said... Yeah, nearly 90 pitches with 1 out in the 4th is starting to look like Old Gibson.

Gameday says he just threw his 89th pitch to finish the sixth. I need to ask him to roll back the odometer on my car, now that I know he has the knack.

Just because Chief isn't participating doesn't mean you have to tell bad jokes instead.

Careful. I haven't done a Carnac in a while.

That's a relief. Could've sworn the pitch count in the FSN batter/pitcher corner showed 86 in the 4th.

Maybe that was the velocity on his fastball?

A Massachusetts State Trooper in my current home town of Natick sees a pristine old Lincoln Town Car puttering along at 16 MPH. He thinks to himself “This driver is just as dangerous as a speeder!” So he turns on his lights and pulls the driver over. As he gets out of his cruiser he notices that four elderly women are in the car. The three passengers are horrified — wide-eyed and white as a sheet — but the driver is calm and collected. The driver says, “I don’t understand why you’ve pulled me over.” The officer replies, “Ma’am, you weren’t speeding, but you should know that driving much slower than the speed limit can also be a danger to other drivers.” “Slower than the speed limit?” she says. “No, I was doing exactly the speed limit. 16 miles per hour, just like that sign says,” pointing to the sign beside her car. The State Trooper laughs and explains that the sign was the route number, not the speed limit. A bit embarrassed, she thanks the officer for pointing out her error. “But before I let you go, Ma’am, I have to ask,” he says, looking at her three still-agitated passengers. “Is everyone in this car OK? Your passengers seem awfully shaken and they haven’t said a peep this whole time.” “Oh, they’ll be all right in a minute officer. We just went through Wellesley on Route 135.”

St. Tortuga.... patron saint of chubby kids!

Only he could make a nice defensive play while simultaneously making you wonder if he's reeeeally, actually a professional athlete.

Posted

Take a bow Tortuga.

Yup, but let's have him lean on someone while he's doing it. That catch looked like the end of every Dizzy Izzy run ever made.

Twins batters have packed it in. They're tired after yesterday. Seems like they're saying "okay, we got 4 on the board, now let's get on that flight to Houston".

Gibby with 6 in the books. Didn't think I'd see that today, my apologies to Mr. Gibson.

I thought about apologizing too, but then I remember that stink bomb the kid and I watched him throw against the Yankees a few years ago and I think we'll just call it even.

Interesting that Rocco is going with May for another inning

Interesting/mildly disturbing.

That's the Trevor May I like to see.

That or the one futzing around on his phone in the bullpen while the starter throws a CG.

Pro'ly hafta stick with mostly the Trevor we saw today, though.

Trevor May and his career 5.00 ERA reminding Twins hitters why they need to score more than 4 runs.

Didnt understand running May out there at the start of the inning, and still don't. Relievers are creatures of habit, and they are used to coming in hot from the bullpen. They aren't used to sitting in the dugout for half an inning. Poor decision by Rocco, imo.

Time for the bullpen sponsored by zantac

So far it's a step up from last year's bullpen, brought to you by the makers of Prozac.

Trevor Hildenberger has now inherited 19 baserunners in 2019, most in MLB. 5 have scored. The Nationals’ Matt Grace has inherited 14, the next highest total in MLB entering today. 7 of his have scored. The rest of the Twins bullpen has inherited 21 baserunners, 10 of whom have scored.

Hildenberger apparently is only comfortable coming in with runners on.
