Game Thread: Twins vs. Royals 8/5 @ 11:10 AM PT (1:10 PM CT)

[Blake]

Another day, another game thread. But, is it just another game thread? I think not, because the Twins have a chance to sweep KC and maybe get a little payback for what the team has endured at the hands of the Royals this year:

*Classic James Brown.

Watching the game yesterday, it was nice to see the Twins get in the swing of things:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Il8ZC3O64AU

*Dire Straights and "The Sultans of Swing." Sort of like the Twins this year and last night.

So, I've got the first part, and the second part and, now for the outro in which I head off into the sunset:

*Okay, so, my segue didn't really go with the music. Deal.

Well, with that, I go into my thoughts segment and post a random picture, because that's the format I've been using this year, and, well, I'm running out of ideas. Either that, or I need more coffee:

Some random observations from last night:

1. Max went 3 for 3 with a walk?

2. Fun to watch Logan Morrison go Jim Thome on KC.

3. Berrios and that curve is something else.

4. Sano definitely looks to be taking a more patient approach at the plate.

5. KC is looking at some brutal years ahead.

Play ball!

Pitching for the Twins:

Ervin Santana

Pitching for the Twins:

Danny Duffy

Meh ... Blake doesn't care what time or team ... just that there is a game, whatever the date is

Just under the wire:

rats, you've caught on to me...

Surely you know better than to call her "Rats".

Surely you know better than to call her "Rats".

I think the evidence suggests otherwise.

[Blake]

All I can say is: "What the heck kind of lineup is that?"

[Circus Boy]

Hope we can get to Duffy early and often. He's had our number the past five years.

I am back in HK (where it's already 8/6), after a visit to the good ol' US of A, and up at 2am dealing with reverse- jet lag.

Thx, Blake, for confirming that reading that ridiculous MoY-special lineup was not just a dream-- a bad one.

My thoughts exactly: 'Da heck?!?'

I think the evidence suggests otherwise.

The panel would also have accepted, "yes, and don't call me Shirley."

Tell me who won, and I'll hurry over to my casino and get a bet down.

Frankly, I'm always surprised when someone actually pays attention to what I put up.

If you can't beat him trade for him??

By the way, I remember the first post I ever put up. I still cannot believe how nervous I was.

[tvagle]

Big Erv best bounce that 81mph BP Change-UP or it will be a short afternoon

[tvagle]

how about some good old fashioned contact with the sacks full Caveman?

[tvagle]

That'll work

[mrmpls]

[PDX Twin]

how about some good old fashioned contact with the sacks full Caveman?

Do this more often!

[mrmpls]

WHAT A BREAK -PITCH B4 COULD OF BEEN CALLED

[Blake]

Saw that one coming.

Waiting for Duffy to come unglued at the Ump for not calling that low strike.

[bighat]

Grand Slam for Captain Cave Man!

Way to take advantage of what was very likely a missed call from the ump there.

[Blake]

how about some good old fashioned contact with the sacks full Caveman?

I think you got your wish.

[bighat]

Took a peek at a Royals thread...yep, they're angry.

[David HK]

For those watching, and not trying to go back to sleep, has Duffy gone full-psycho yet?

[Danchat]

I like this Cave guy. I think he's going to be a good player and we've got him under control for quite a while...
