Indians Designate Belisle - can he add stability to our pen?

I think bringing him back allows for too much of a comfort situation. A vet that the team knows well will get too much leash. Busenitz, Moya and Curtis got no leash. I'd much rather have those guys up plus Reed and Bard.

If you think the bullpen is over used.... How does adding another player without options help?

He helps by giving at least one of those guys with options a bit of a break by taking their spot for (likely) a short time. The longer he’s effective, the longer the break for the younger guys. Even if he’s gone in a week, those handful of innnings are innings not pitched by someone who’s arm the team actually cares about long term.

That would presume that AAA innings don't have any impact on their arms?

No!

We were fortunate to survive with him last year, and it looks like he's even worse now.

If I'm not mistaken, he was our best pitcher after 6-15. If he fits, I have no problem picking him up. Depth is a good thing.

No, my presumption is that the AAA staff is more focused on preparing players for MLB and less on actually winning games. That is their job, after all. Wins and losses are not what milb is about. Therefore, they are far less likely to overwork a guy and if a guy needs rest, he’ll get it.

If Rogers, just to use an example, went down, maybe he would throw 30 pitches in 10 days whereas at the mlb level it might be 45.

Everything is going to be "fine"??

What does that even mean?

"F.I.N.E." means "First In New Experiences"...as in sweeping the Yankees in the playoffs and qualifying for the World Series Baby!

Quite sorry if my initial post upset you. By saying "no need to panic," I was not referring to sitting you or anyone else in the corner and telling you to take deep breaths. It was a simple statement meant to be geared towards any early failures the twins are having. I do not think the atmosphere is too negative. I enjoy the atmosphere. Quite nice actually. There's just a lot of people talking about early struggles, which happens every single year.

The bullpen will be FINE! lol

(thank you gil4 and Platoon for the laughs)

YOu didn't upset me.  I guess I don't like to hear, "he'll be fine"

It's a joke on another site I visit and the schtick  did not translate here

:)

The only thing is, with the early struggles this year, we have seen it before and things really didn't turn out too well.  As it is now, do you see us as playoff contenders?  We may need to accept the fact that we are not in 2018.  It sucks to do that in May, but .......reality is reality.

I have not given up by any stretch though

It's definitely been an odd beginning of the year...the games ppd, Polanco suspension, Ervin's injury, Buxton and Sano doing very little, etc. It's going to be tough to rebound enough where we make the playoffs, but I'm not willing to give up hope quite yet...you never know, we could be on the verge of rattling off 9 out of 10 any time here :)

2006 did not take off until June.  Of course we had Johan, Frankie pitching lights out and Radke.  We also had one of the better bullpens in the league.  Things did not look good at this time that year.  We still had Juan Castro and Jose Batista on the left side of the infield.

That’s “past a diving” TONY Batista.
