Han Joelo Verified Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Was it deadline acquisition Upton striking out to end it? Thank you Tigers, again. Hope the Twins are all sound asleep right now. Nah, I hope they are celebrating. Just wow. What a season. I know I should want more, but beating the Yankees would be the cherry on top. Winning more than that? I don't even know what that would be. Nuts, I guess.
BlackJackMorris Provisional Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 BOOM!!!!! Bring on the Yanks!!!!!

TwinsCD Verified Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 On August 2, I wrote these guys off after that pathetic West Coast trip. I figured that it was a nice 4-month run but the bad road trip and then Sano's injury would finally bring them back to Earth. I've never been happier to be that wrong. They dug deep, made up the WC deficit within a week, and then rode the rollercoaster of wins and losses before breaking out the 5-game win streak at the perfect time. Kudos to the players for thumbing their nose at the disappointment from the Trade Deadline and continuing to battle throughout the last 2 months of the season. Soooo...wildcard game. 1 game to move on. Guess what, kids? There's ZERO pressure on these guys. No one expected them here and certainly no one thinks they're gonna walk into the Bronx and win given the franchise history there (especially a number of posters here). So they can let it all hang out, go for broke, play loose. If they are leading or have it close in the late innings, the sphincters will tighten all over NYC. We'll have our best guy on the mound and it'll be all hands on deck with the exception of probably Berrios and Gibby. Take a shot and see what happens. But let's enjoy this ride because I have a feeling we're going to be experiencing more of it, if not more this season, then likely next season.
PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Congrats to the Twins! Cheers to all the fans who persevered through those losing seasons and still found ways to contribute to our little community! We're coming for you, you Yankee scum!

jokin Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Wow! Can't believe they pulled it off, love it!#crushtheyankees Seven long, painful years. I was good with just Regime Change as my 2017 highlight .Can't properly express how good that 1987 "giddy" feeling feels once again. Crushing the Yankees will just be a cherry on the top.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 That sums it up perfectly. I've surprised myself at how close I felt like this dude when Delmonico's shot left the ballpark down in Chi-town. Like the weight of the world turned into a pair of 5# dumbbells.

Reider Verified Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 Regardless of what some people have to say, the Twins making the playoffs this year is impressive considering: - They lost 103 games last year- They were sellers at the trade deadline (traded away their closer Brandon Kintzler and starting pitcher Jamie Garcia)- Miguel Sano has been injured for a while and his return date is still unknown- New front office staff (Derek Falvey, Thad Levine etc..)
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 How about some motivation for the Kiddie Korps that Kould? Play all of that A-Rod FS1 WrapAround Twins/Yankees WC forecasting crap before, during and after every game through Sunday.

What should have been soul-crushers turned into team-bonding features. The best part? Win or lose the WC, it's only going to get even better from here going forward!

Face The Facts Provisional Member Posted September 28, 2017 Posted September 28, 2017 I wasn't going to believe it until they clinched it. Now they clinched it, and I still don't quite believe it. Playing the Yankees in a one-game playoff is the perfect way to kill of the Yankees. I know we're playing with house money at this point, but eliminating the Yankees just once... it would be so nice.
