The first time he struck out looking, it was definitely outside.  But apparently, this Triple-A ump has established that as his edge so the next time you see that pitch, ESPECIALLY with 2 strikes, you have to hack at it.

 

And once again, the Twins leave the bases loaded.

He's gotten the pitches when he's needed to. Good thing bc otherwise he hasn't been good

What I'm not seeing from Garcia is a willingness to work inside. I have not seen him make batters move their feet. Instead, he's doing a lot of nibbling on the outside corner, and Oakland's boys are starting to lean out over the plate and smack those pitches to the outfield.

Either Garcia stops nibbling outside, or the A's are going to smack him around next inning.

I'd trade Grossman if they can get anything of value

Garcia really needs to pitch inside. He can't depend on deep fly ball outs.

In my own defense, the last batter he did pitch inside. Maybe Garcia really likes the left side of the plate. Also, I'm kind of stupid.

If these results are typical, I'll take Jaime Garcia as a mid rotation starter. He's also got a legitimate bat. Anybody that can pop a baseball over the fence at least has a very good swing. Inning-eating lefty with a sub-.4 ERA is fine by me.

Kintzler seems overworked/tired.

It's interesting that Kintzler and Colon throw the same two-seamer that bends arm-side about a foot. Difference is that Kintzler's pitch is going about 5 mph faster, and Kintzler works only one inning. 

 

BTW: They both learned the pitch from Greg Maddux.
