HitInAPinch Verified Member Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Yet if I recall, you were actually making the case for him to start the season in the rotation, correct?
Guest Guests Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Seems like Breslow is going to make it by default. I can't imagine he'll have an especially long leash, could see Melatokis relatively quickly, maybe Jay later in the season. If Giminez and Park make the team, two people have to be moved off the 40. It'll probably be Perkins and May. Breslow would require a third person. That'll get a little interesting. Haley, O'Rourke, Tonkin, Adrianza or Swiss Cheese Army Knife Santana are the likely suspects, but you could argue why you'd rather keep each of them instead of Breslow. It gets easier for Breslow if Park or Giminez go to AAA.

There are ways, Dude.Save your magic for someone with fewer walks than innings who isn't in the last gasp of a career that was never more than the second or third lefty in the pen. Note that Molitor praised Belisle today for his clubhouse help when thanking Vogelsong, but didn't mention Breslow.
jud6312 Verified Member Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Breslow's story is great, but seven walks in six innings is not good. Hope he goes to AAA.I don't think you're accounting for his new arm slot? Did you happen to hear that he's got a new arm slot? I think once his new arm slot is no longer "new," it'll just be a slot and those numbers will go down
jud6312 Verified Member Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Swiss Cheese Army Knife Santana There has to be some mail-order Swiss Army knock-off that could be had for UPCs and shipping costs or picked up in an old Ben Franklin store. Whatever that brand is called, shall be my new nickname for DanSan.

I just thought you'd like the Lebowski reference.
FormerMinnasotan Provisional Member Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 So basically it is going to come down between Berrios, Mejia, and Duffey. Since Berrios hasn't been used enough in the WBC I'd hope Mejia gets the nod. At least pitching wise Mejia offers more than Duffey does with a good 4 pitches he can use compared to Duffey's 2 pitches. I'd hope it wouldn't be too long before Berrios is called up. He needs to spend the majority of this season with the big league team.
Old Twins Cap Verified Member Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 I never thought Vogelsong had a chance, but, as a GM, you never know how many injuries are going to accrue in Spring Training. That said, I see value in an old guy showing up to camp, going about his business, and keeping the ball low and on the corners -- even at a top of 88. You got stuff? Throw it where you need to and get the job done. Nothing wrong in exposing Twins' pitchers to that.
goulik Verified Member Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 And in the Fake News, Vogelsong is signing with the Pirates. Most experts expect him to contend for the NL Cy Young this year and next.
snepp Verified Member Posted March 22, 2017 Posted March 22, 2017 Actually, as a Twins fan, I'm going to miss Chris Sale pitching for the White Sox. For whatever reason, the Twins pretty much owned Sale. Worst ERA against any opponent (ignoring the single game interleague opponents)....your Minnesota Twins.
