World Series Game 7 Thread

4 hours to complete 9 full innings. Who knows, maybe this is already over if there weren't an hour of commercials...

Go watch basketball.  Clearly you don't love the game.

Also, why are we listening to weather terrorists about a storm that looked a significant distance away?

Was it though? Even the announcers were all over the possibility.

The announcers mentioned it but the Indians' fielders were playing it straight up.

Not that they could have played in on that ball given the situation. It was a really risky move that, unfortunately, didn't work.

Because wow, what a way to win the World Series.

I think the umps are making the right call. Stop the game before the top of a new inning.

The heavy rain is still 70 miles away.  Now it looks like they'll restart the game?  Incompetence.

Yeah, they really couldn't do much more at that point.  They had to gamble on him not executing.

Either way, I think it was a bad call.  A sac fly gets it done there, you don't have to bunt with two strikes.

I don't know enough about Baez' bunting ability to really judge the call.

But, yeah, on its face the call didn't make a lot of sense.

Defense is the story of this game.  Normally great defensive team, Cubs messing up, Cleveland playing solid defense (including game saving play by Lindor).

I was thinking more along the lines of eSports. Video game battles can't last more than 1.5 hours right? It's perfect for my generation's continously decreasing attention span... And I get to watch them shoot lasers!

Look at the radar, everybody. It was the right call to delay for the small but significant squall line, but if this game goes 3 more innings we've got big rain.

Fitting that we get a political ad protending the end of the world during the Cubs clinching half-inning.

Congratulations, Cubbies!

Terrific series. Late offense from the Cubs saved Maddon a lifetime of questions and grief about pulling Hendricks in the fifth after 63 pitches with one runner on.

The look on Bryant's face as he was making that throw...wow.

'Please don't overthrow it, please don't overthrow it' :-)

Exactly. 108 years of perfectly good misery down the tubes.

Well, maybe now we won't have to keep hearing about the goat. Glad I'm out of town this week.

I would love to be in Chicago tonight.  The parties are going to be awesome!

Yay Cubs?

I'm happy for them.  They were my adopted MLB team for a summer during the Age of Caray.

And anyway, after 94 losses a year for over half a decade, is there a single Twins fan left with the energy to protest an attaboy for any good team, let alone one that overcame a century-long jinx?

Edit: Excepting any fan with dual allegiance, like maybe for a team from the South Side.

No, they won't be. They'll be a drunken mess. Just like the Stanley Cup wins. Mess.

I think you just defined a party, at least a fun party.

I was thinking it was kind of a sloppy game.

Agreed, but that didn't prevent it from being exciting, and with some excellent baseball to balance the fumbles and weirdness.  Almora's heads-up tag and subsequent score as pinch runner, Lester and Ross helping the team win after fumbling the lead, the Indians absolutely refusing to roll over after leading 3-1 in the series and then getting behind early tonight.

It wasn't Twins/Braves Game 7, but it had its moments.

And overall, it was a good series. Two franchises that desperately needed to return to postseason relevance did so in a big way. and Game 6 beat MNF in the ratings battle despite the hand-wringing over a World Series of two teams from 'flyover country'.
