gunnarthor Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 Naturally, the Twins gossip starts when I have to go to a lunch meeting ...
PMKI Verified Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 If this happens I would definitely miss Span but will be happy to watch Revere roam CF. I would love to see us get a Cingrani and maybe Didi
Parker Hageman Site Manager Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 According to CBS Sports' Scott Miller, the Reds, following the trade of Shane Victorino, are now increasing their efforts to land Denard Span from the Minnesota Twins. Once of Miller's sources said there is a "50/50" chance the deal gets done.
DPJ Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I've already prepared myself to be disappointed in the return haul...so bring it on JR.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 And this is why you wait to trade. That's probably my only real complaint with the Liriano trade. Teams get crazy and stupid in the last 24 hours of the deadline. Hopefully JR can take advantage of it.
JASONTYNER Verified Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Love the way Span plays and he's a great person, but we need to bolster our minor league pitching. Make this deal happen ASAP.
Winston Smith Verified Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 If this happens I would definitely miss Span but will be happy to watch Revere roam CF. I would love to see us get a Cingrani and maybe DidiI think that would be fair value. Possible top of the rotation lefty and a middle infielder with upside. Both areas of great need.
rickyhawaii Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Any of Cingrani, Sulbaran, or Lotzkar would be really good. Doubt the Reds would deal Didi Gregorius, but maybe they might be desperate enough. also would like to see twins pry off the reds Kyle Waldrop

I would love to see us get a Cingrani and maybe DidiDidn't the Twins just get their defensively gifted, offensively challenged SS of the future? Pitching, pitching and more pitching is what I want, and the Reds have a ton. I think it would be tough not to come away with at least one pitcher that would immediatly be top 1 or 2 in the system.

DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I wish Span was enough to get Billy Hamilton, but he is almost as untouchable as they come I bet.
DPJ Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Didi can hit, hopefully he'd settle in that .270/.330/.410 range while playing slick defense, HOPEFULLY!
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I don't think Didi is offensively challenged. He has shown little power, speed or on base skills at any level thus far. I don't understand what people are seeing in him.
PMKI Verified Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 @johnfayman: #Reds source downplays Span talk.

I would love to see us get a Cingrani and maybe Didi EXACTLY I've liked Didi Gregorious for about a year and a half now. I'd DEMAND him 1st.....then decide which pitcher they want to give us.... they have 3 Sulbaran, Cingrani, and Corcino. I believe.

PseudoSABR Verified Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 MLB network just reported that Denard Span has declined trade to the Reds. Wtf?
Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a no-trade clause, so he really doesn't have any say.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Wow. Apparently there's a Shadow Collective Bargaining Agreement we don't know about.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a no-trade clause, so he really doesn't have any say.It took me off-guard as well.
DPJ Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Wow. Apparently there's a Shadow Collective Bargaining Agreement we don't know about. What the **** is that!! At some point if you're considering trading a guy you would speak to him and get an idea of where he's approve a trade.
Chad Jacobsen Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 MLB network just reported that Denard Span has declined trade to the Reds. Wtf?Does he have a no trade clause that we don't know about? How is this even possible?
bulldogguy Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 He does not...not enough years. Twins just bought out his arbitration years with his current contract.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Just saying what was mentioned and shown on MLB Network.
