operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Where in the world is Carmen Sandiego? She's pitching for the Twins tonight!
70charger Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Joe Mauer's getting paid millions and he's still robbing fans of souvenir baseballs!? Whatever, Joe. Hosken Bombo Disco and Comrade Bork 2
Comrade Bork Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 There's our gold glove first baseman! Though that Cleveland fan straight up whiffed his grab. Maybe it was a subtle commentary on the twins defense this season.
big dog Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I'm sure Napoli is wondering how Mauer was allowed to make a catch that far into the stands. In Philadelphia they would have stolen his glove and probably tried to stab him. Or at least that's what I've heard. 70charger and Hosken Bombo Disco 2
big dog Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I never played Oregon Trail, but I played enough similar games to laugh out loud a few times at the early posts in the thread. re Logan Schafer- I didn't know anything much about him other than his Rochester stats. I amastounded to see that we just called up a 29-year-old to start in center, who has been in the big leagues for almost 300 games and has a career OPS+ of 66. Huh. Interesting. Let's hope tonight is the night he breaks out. Jham 1
big dog Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Wow. Centeno isn't really a catch-and-throw guy, but he sure is a throw guy. Wow. Platoon 1
70charger Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Wait, catchers can throw runners out at second!?
big dog Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 If someone could somehow teach Centeno to be better at picking up low pitches, he'd have a shot. Hosken Bombo Disco 1
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I have the game thread intro tomorrow and Wednesday. The way the team has been playing lately I just wanted to get a head count for tomorrow and Wednesday. Please RSVP. Not really sure if I have to plan for a party of 5 or more...I'd love to, but it's my parakeet's bowling night. Also, I have to sort the gravel in my driveway. And I just remembered, I'm scheduled to give nuisance lessons at our local convenience store. I may think of other reasons, as well. Hosken Bombo Disco, 70charger, wsnydes and 1 other 4

We get to see who survives and who succumbs to dysentery. Does that sound like a good idea? wsnydes, Hosken Bombo Disco, Squirrel and 2 others 5

Comrade Bork Verified Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Bert just said Ploiffe is DH'ing because Sano's elbow is feeling better. Seems weird just to do a 1 for 1 swap of the superior defender vs the superior hitter just to give Sano reps at third. Not really doing Santiago any favors.

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 If Centeno could block pitches he would be my choice for full time catcher next season. Hopefully he takes that on as his winter project (I'm sure he has in the past and just can't get it, but still) big dog 1
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Molly shoulda challenged Sano beating it out. Oh well.

ashbury Verified Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 There goes the Santiago no hitter The radio team (Gladden?) put the jinx on at the end of the third inning by mentioning it. Sheesh. N00bs. Everyone here knows better, right? Hosken Bombo Disco 1
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Four innings, no balls to Sano. And to think, I came to see him make a great play or boot an easy one
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Lindor: average at .311, 14 homers, 64 RBI. (And a booted ground ball tonight.) All cynicism aside, I would love it if Gordon showed up in a couple years with those hitting numbers. ashbury 1

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Not Vielma? Vielma, Bernier, Wally Pipp, anyone ashbury 1
jud6312 Verified Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 I missed Logan's first AB tonight, but after watching him almost knock Kipnis over with that hot smash in the 4th I feel comfortable in assigning him a nickname ... Weapon X. Who's with me? ashbury 1
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 30, 2016 Posted August 30, 2016 Vielma, Bernier, Wally Pipp, anyone Pipp's probably your better bet for double-digit HRs in the occasional season, if Gordon doesn't pan out.
