Eduardo Nunez

Our all-star has finally come back down to earth.

His OPS is .564 in the month of July and now .770 on the season. Can we stop forcing this guy into the lineup every day?

THERE IS NO ROOM FOR POLANCO!

Can we trade him while his value will never be higher!?

This isn't going to be the popular take but I think Polanco will start 50+ games at 3rd next year.

I'd have him playing 2nd and 3rd in Rochester right now. I like your idea a lot.....

I think it's fair to say Nunez's value is the same today as it was 3 weeks ago.  Major League Baseball scouts and talent evaluators don't base their reports based off a hot month or two.  My guess is even All Star Eduardo Nunez was viewed around the league as a utility guy who doesn't play any position that well, the same they probably see him as today

I highly doubt his trade value has changed. Players don't ride the roller coaster of trade value. Teams know slash stats need a sample larger than a partial season to be meaningful. He likely viewed as poor fielding SS/3B with a mid 700s OPS and speed. That has value to both the Twins next year and other teams.

If the Twins believe Polanco can match his defense at SS, they should make a move. They probably don't believe that since Polanco is not playing SS. They don't need to call him up and find out if he can play SS. That is a determination that should be made in the minors. It looks like they made that determination.

I agree, with this caveat, Polanco's clock is ticking. Sooner or later a determination of what to do with him needs to happen. Of course we always tend to the later, after all other options have passed. Note I said, passed, , not explored!

... after he started a grand total of 2 over the past 5 seasons.   If that is true,  the GM who makes that decision should go the way of Ryan, because that will be Sano at RF Version 2.0.

Polanco is 5'11" (with a couple pairs of cleats on).  Not the height for a third baseman.

Nunez should be gone this week...

I posted that because I think he will have a Nunez role next year i.e. Utility guy to start the year. Dozier is the second baseman and the decision on SS has already been made so through either injury to Sano or a lack of confidence in him I think he will get a number of regular starts at 3rd next year.

So Eduardo Nunez is not an .800+ OPS guy that we can rely on for 2017 and beyond? Weird. This is my shocked face that he's falling back to Earth.
