High heat Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 If Suzuki goes on the DL what the twins plan for catching day to day. I like Centeno but I think he will get exposed offensively and has holes defensively. John Ryan Murphy hasn't earned everyday MLB at bats. He hasn't hit at aaa and he didn't show me anything special defensively. Does Turner or Garver get an everyday opportunity in the majors? Are we now stuck with Suzuki the rest of the season if he goes on the DL?
GMinTraining Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 Carlos PaulinoExcellent defensive catcher at AAA and has out hit Murphy. Contact guy. Deserves a chance in this down year. Cup of Coffee! Everybody loves prospect list and wants to jump over Carlos. If not Carlos than I would test out Garver.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I agree with GMinTraining. If Carlos Paulino is doing better than Murphy in AAA, then call him up for his cuppa. Non-prospect guys in the minors can always use a morale boost. Let them know that hard work and performance still rates a shot at the bigs.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I'd probably go with Murphy because he's on the 40 man roster. If Suzuki is moved in trade, then I'd consider Paulino. It's not a big deal either way but I wouldn't play a 40 man game with Paulino unless necessarily.

DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2016 Posted July 24, 2016 I'd bring up Murphy. He was acquired for a reason, despite the horrible year thus far. He's on the 40 man. It would probably be temporary. And while I am not wearing my rose colored Twins glasses, it may jump start his season. For whatever the reason, guys sometimes struggle, rehab or otherwise, come up and suddenly play better. At least we give him a shot to see where he's at and what we might have, even if it's defensively.
