Trant definitely survived, he was the perv she eye-gouged last season.

I meant the fight was down to just the two of them. I know he survived, but that doesn't mean Syrio didn't get out of there.

When talking about whether or not Syrio is alive, remember it was down to him and Trant.

Hound and Sir Barristan Selmy both noted how easily someone could beat Trant, so I find it hard to believe he beat Syrio. the first sword of Braavos. Between that info and Jacqen just happening to be there, is why I like to think the first Jacqen we saw was actually Syrio. He also knew who Arya was right away.  He also promised Ned he'd train her.

Probably wrong, but I don't think it's too far out in left field.

That last part, about the promise, is the first time I've read something that makes me believe this theory......the question is, why did he want to help the Starks in the first place (no matter who he is/was).

Other than Ned paying him, and then perhaps getting attached to Arya, I don't know.

Perhaps, but it does seem unlikely.  But it happened off camera so you definitely have a possibility.

Which is why I hold out the tiniest hope the Blackfish is alive*

*not really, I like to delude myself sometimes.

I just seriously doubt Syrio was beaten by someone held in such low regard when it comes to sword play/fighting.

It was a wooden sword versus a member of the Kingsguard in full armor.  Even a lowly member of the Kingsguard is still a highly regarded knight.

On top of that, it was a classic sacrifice. Syrio had no intention of winning, only to stall for time.

They should all be dead-Syrio, Blackfish, but then we were lead to believe the Hound died in the Eyre and we all know that didn't happen. So now we can't really trust any off-screen stuff.

Kind of a cheap trick if you ask me.

and we know for sure he wasnt able to pick up one of the many fallen swords in the room?

The Riverlands are going to be interesting. Arya is there, with a mask, her destination "west of Westeros." But checkout the names left on her list:

The Hound, Cersei, the Red Woman, Beric Dondarrion, Thoros of Myr, and Ilyn Payne

The Hound, Beric, and Thoros are in the Riverlands, and the Red Woman is heading south. Doubtful that Arya wants the Hound dead. His desire for revenge combined with Arya's list seems to make them natural allies instead against the Brothers Without Banners/Lord of Light people.

Nymeria's superpack was said to be in the Riverlands too.

And I forgot this but in Dance with Dragons (ch 3), Jon has a dream that he is Ghost, and being called by his sister "with many cousins" from the Riverlands...

Ooh, good point. I could easily see Arya hooking up with the Hound and then blazing a trail to King's Landing to kill Cersei and the Mountain.

Actually, this just keeps getting better.

Arya kills Cersei, the Hound kills the Mountain, Jamie kills the Hound, Arya and Jamie square off.

I'd watch that episode. Probably twice.

Arya is as good as dead IMO after her Hannibal like approach to solving her problems.

I think she is now way too obsessed with revenge and it will ultimately be her downfall. (Ditto with old lady Tyrell)

Dany and Cersei are both too obsessed with power, thus that will be both their downfalls as well.

Jon Snow, Sansa and Tyrion will be the last three standing IMO.

Arya is pretty much a serial killer now, right? While we can root for bad people to die in fiction, I'm wondering if I'll still be a fan of hers in the next 13 episodes.....

It's interesting.  When I was reading the books, I was telling my brother how great they were and I was talking about Arya.  And after I told him about the guys she's killed/had killed, he looks at me and says, "you know she's become evil, right?"  And I was like, "NO!  She's the best!"  But he has a point.  She's a POV character but she really isn't a nice guy anymore.

Still the best character in the books though.

It was a broken wooden sword... but then again, there were plenty armed solders incapacitated too.  Bit surprised Syrio didn't pick up a sword... but yeah, off camera.  That's a give away that there's more too it.  It was off camera so to speak in the books as well.  Arya assumes Syrio is dead.  While she didn't off Trant in the books, Trant's reaction in the show indicated he had no idea who she was talking about.

I think the interesting part is that some of her list is going to end up fighting for her brother cousin.  She cared for Jon though more than any of her real siblings.  I could see a very interesting crisis of conscious when Dondarion, Thoros, and the Hound are all fighting with Jon.

Those guys aren't on her list in the book.  I'm guessing they get forgiven just as she's largely forgiven the Hound.   That seems to be the one trait that makes Arya non-evil.  She's willing to forgive and change her mind.

She did kill the women Freys, right? The people that did nothing to anyone, ever?

We all know the Hound is going to take down the Mountain. After that happens, I could see the Hound asking Arya to kill him. I doubt she does, though. I suspect the Hound will be Arya's redemption moment in some fashion or another.

I guess I assumed she only killed his sons.  Where did you get the idea the women were killed?

I'm starting to wonder about that (Mountain vs. Hound).  I know Cleganebowl has been around for awhile, but these two are moving in opposite directions.  It would require Sandor to go solo down to KL and join up with Dany and her forces and the show seemed to imply he was heading north with the Brotherhood.

My guess is the Sand snakes avenge their father and take out the Mountain, but I agree the Hound is her key for redemption.

You might be right... The only chance for the Hound and Arya to meet up is in the next couple of episodes. They're in approximately the same area though moving in different directions.

All three snakes working together, yes, that makes sense.

I like that almost more than Sandor doing it, frankly. I'd like to see him "redeemed" as it were, and revenge killing your mean brother doesn't do that.

Hmmmm, maybe I heard wrong, I'll go scour the internet for that info....brb....

The Hound's redemption is two-fold for me: he braves the fire required to fight the Walkers and faces down his fear and I could see him dying to save Sansa/Brienne/etc.  In the end he dies a true knight and not just some freak who benefited from his familie's cruelty for the Lannisters.

Okay, we only "know" she killed the two sons Walder asked about......but there were no other Freys in the Hall, and there are always Freys in the Hall.....

We will likely not know who all she killed, I'd guess every male heir, but I could be wrong on that.

What does this do for Edmure, the idiot?

yeah, she would have had to incapacitate some serving girls I'd guess.  Frey had a lot of sons if I remember, I think the ones she killed were his eldest.  But it's hard to remember that clan in detail.

I'd imagine this will embolden the Tullys to take back their castle again.  Especially if all the Lannister forces are required to fend off the insurmountable odds sailing against them.
