Two years of Lucroy.

And if healthy, he's absolutely that good. He's two years removed from finishing fourth in the NL MVP race, forpetesakes.

Yeah, Lucroy is damned good if healthy. Don't underrate the guy. Before his injury-riddled 2015 season, he had an OPS around .830 the previous three seasons.

Murphy is a young healthy catcher who is good defensively and looks like he is going to hit. At 24 he has spent parts of 3 years in The Show and may well be an All-Star at some point in the future.

If our favorite team makes a big deal, most likely Berrios, Kepler, Polanco, or even May would need to be involved. Sometimes the best trade, is the one not made. It's a big win to retain all of our top prospects this off season.

Well, it's very, very, VERY predictable we retained all of our top prospects this offseason.  Did anyone think even for a second Ryan would trade any of them?  I'm not sure one could call it a big win.  Pretty easy to just stand pat and do nothing in regards to them.

I realize people are bored with the lack of activity recently, as am I. However, I'd rather be bored than angry because of a deal being made simply to make a deal - IMO, that's WAY worse than sitting idly by.

The fact that they got ANYTHING resembling value for Herrmann, thought outside the box and signed Park and went out and got a young, potentially solid catcher is a sign of optimism. They also didn't reach and overpay for another mid-rotation SP. Add to that the "loss" of Boyer and Duensing, and I'd say it's been a better off-season than most other years.

My only "complaints" are that it's starting to look like Sano to OF is actually going to happen and Nolasco's contract hasn't been eaten/pawned off on someone else.

If you guaranteed that Lucroy's concussion issues were behind him, it'd be one thing - his bat plays well behind the plate. However, if he's forced out from behind the plate due to concussions (sound familiar?), all of a sudden that bat doesn't look so good.

Ok...I get that trying to buy low on Lucroy will be like pulling teeth from a toothless person

So...what will it take to get the Fresh Prince of Newnan, Ga. (that's Will Smith for those unaware of Baseball Reference  ;)

The following have been thrown out there in this thread:

Perkins for Smith Straight up

Polanco and Rogers for Smith and Lucroy

Cabbage for Smith

Tonkin + Darnell/Dean + Reed/Peterson for Smith

Zack Jones so he can be sent to minors

Here's my I Am Legend...trade for Will Smith

Polanco

Cabbage

Zack Jones (for above reasons)

Unless you have a STRONG feeling that we already have our LOOGY!

And now a few silly Will Smith references...

Does anyone else find it coincidental that the I Robot character played be Will Smith had a cybernetic LEFT ARM...we have to trade for him now don't we?

Plus...when Sano collides with: 1)the wall 2) any other player he will be able to help with the resulting Concussion!

not sure I'd part ways with Polanco, Cabbage, and Jones for Smith as it seems a bit high for a reliever with 2 or 3 years left, but I could see a scenario where we sent them someone like Burdi who better fits into Milwaukee's long term plans, and can provide that same upside for him. I'd give them Polanco straight up for him too.

Also, Cabbage was just drafted in June.  He's not tradable until next June if I understand the rule correctly.

They changed the rule, draft picks can be traded after only 6 months now.

Also, Smith has 4 years of team control left.

It sure looks like we could easily squander a lot of Polanco's value over the next 2 years anyway, buried on the bench or at AAA. Probably still need another solid piece to get Milwaukee to agree right now (Gonsalves was mentioned in Jeremy's GM article), with maybe a relief prospect or lotto ticket tacked on too.

Personally, I probably would have just signed a FA reliever. 2 years, $12 mil, plus you keep your prospects, only immediate cost in org talent would be losing a fringe 40 man guy like Darnell/Strong or Dean.
