Farewell Torii

Looks like Torii is retiring. Even though he's my favorite player of all time (and we share the same birthday), I gotta say that we might have dodged a bullet with his retirement. Cheers to a heck of a career and to the future Rosario/Buxton/Hicks and Kepler Outfield!

In the end, Torii couldn't play everyday and saw the writing on the wall with the Twins. My guess is he gets a job in the front office

I'm a bit ashamed to admit, my first reaction to the news was Yes! Oh thank God!.

 

Torii is an all-time Twins great. And thanks for the memories! But I was not looking forward to grinding my teeth as he took 300 + AB's away from Buxton/Rosario/Kepler/Arcia while hitting a heart .230 again. I'm pretty glad I won't have to. When (if) we win the WS in 2-4 years, Torii will have played a part.

Well, if President St. Peter's comments have any merit, then we should be seeing Hunter on the coaching staff at one point.

 

Congrats, Torii. You had a great career and you were pretty good even age 40. I hope to see you leading dance parties with the team as a bench coach next season.

I will miss Torii Hunter but it is the best for the team to free up a spot for a young gun and now put that $10M+ into the bullpen for some nice arms.

I think it was pretty clear that there would be a place for him somewhere within the organization upon retirement. So, it's not farewell ... it'll still be Torii ... just in a different role.
