SwainZag Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I don't want to pile the hate on Perkins... but how many games has he lost in this playoff race? Ugh. Molitor needs to figure out how to use his bullpen better. Too many "WTF" decisions so far. May should have been out there right after Santana. Zobrist was the switch hitter and then they had the 3 lefties. IDK know what I would have done, probably left Santana in to pitch to Zobrist and gone from there.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Bwwhahaha. Taking a team that has lossed 90 or more games in 4 seasons to a team that will have a winning record and your want to fire Ryan? Take some Xanax kid and we will see you when next season.Ryan was the reason why that team lost 90 or more games in 4 straight seasons... One playoff series win in 17 years. One.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I'll be that guy. This thing ain't over! Let's go Esco....get something going. Danchat 1

Hell he was a rookie coach and did a good job with a young team. He did lose some games by his coaching but overall I was happy. Danchat 1

He actually is better against righties, this isn't rocket science!

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I can't blame Molitor for using Perkins. Perk was the best arm in the pen before the two cortisone shots. Now, he just doesn't have snap on his pitches. He had a good run of several healthy years as a dominant closer. That run is now over. Bad timing, but that's mortality for you.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I miss the old "clutch" Dozier he was much more fun to watch then "hit below the mendoza line from August on Dozeir"
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Perkins isn't good against lefties though! He actually is better against righties, this isn't rocket science!I'm not saying Perkins was the answer, but I don't know if I would have gone to May right away.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Dozier continues his hot hitting.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I'm not saying Perkins was the answer, but I don't know if I would have gone to May right away.May is the Twins "set up" guy at this point, if you aren't going to goto him in a tie game in the 8th in a MUST win game, when do you goto him?
wavedog Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 We need to improve on hit and run and stolen bases for next season. We have some speed guys - too many double-plays.
Danchat Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Rally time! Please no DP.Dude, you jinxed it...
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Damn. Big swing by the big fella.
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 We need to improve on hit and run and stolen bases for next season. We have some speed guys - too many double-plays.100% The Twins have gotten muredered in the SB catergory this year, can't throw anyone out, can't steal a base. Ultima Ratio and Danchat 2
Ultima Ratio Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 No surprise that Sano doesn't see one fastball. The book is out. Aggies7 1
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 The only question that remains now is: Who will Moltior PH Danny Santana for in the 9th Danchat 1
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 The mighty Sano... struck out.

I feel this is why they went out and got Cotts. Lefties hit .177 against him. May is a good pitcher, but he isn't invincible. Danchat 1

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I do hope the Twins keep Kevin Jepsen. He's pretty good. Blew that catch, but usually good. DaveW 1
mikecgrimes Verified Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Terry Ryan's only major mistakes were not hiring Paul Molitor sooner, and not bringing back Torii after 2012. I couldn't imagine how bad we would have been in 2012 with Molitor. Bad rosters and bad managers usually don't turn out well. DaveW 1
DaveW Old-Timey Member Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 I do hope the Twins keep Kevin Jepsen. He's pretty good. Blew that catch, but usually good. He is under team control for 2016, so there is pretty much 100% chance he is back next year.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 Good point, why not put in Cotts there? Perkins has been...um...unreliable at best the past few months. I have no idea. Like I said in my original post, I wouldn't have gone to May right away, I said nothing about putting in Perkins. We both know Perk hasn't been himself lately.
SwainZag Community Moderator Posted October 3, 2015 Posted October 3, 2015 That's a close one.....just call him out.

May is a good pitcher, but he isn't invincible.Yes, this. Or, actually try using O'Rourke as a LOOGY. I know they don't trust him because he's a rookie and walks too many guys, but he's still really good versus lefties. DaveW 1
