Praise for Tommy Milone

He's only pitched 112 innings, so he won't qualify for the ERA championship, but in the end Tommy Milone might grade out to be one of the Twins' best starters. His 8-4 record shouldn't count for too much, but he's allowed only 106 hits and 29 walks in those 112 innings. Milone doesn't throw hard, but strike out between 6 an 7 per nine innings.

Milone is only 28 (less than a year older than Gibson) and he will remain under team control through 2018. Most have speculated that the Twins should move him out of the rotation or trade him. I think his contribution has been shortchanged and that he will continue to be a solid rotation guy for someone.

Even with his disastrous stint with the Twins in 2014, Milone is 8-5 with a 4.03 ERA in his season plus with the Twins. I think Milone and Gibson deserve to be penciled in the rotation for the 2016 Twins.

He's done a good job for us this year.  Nothing flashy, but solid.  He'll be penciled in next season I'd bet.  I'm on the fence with Gibson.

Milone has been great for the Twins and now allows them some flexibility heading into 2016. In a perfect world they would be able to move Nolasco and possibly Gibson or someone else to help fill in some other org holes (catcher!) to open up spots for Berrios, Duffman, Milone, etc heading into next year

Santana

Berrios

Hughes

Milone

Duffey/May

Not bad IMO.

Milone has been very solid and fun to watch as well. There's something special about a guy who can change speeds and get people out with 76 mph breaking stuff.

I admit, I was completely against giving him starts. He has done pretty well this season. Guys like him succeed all the time. The old "crafty lefty" saying. I think his success is at least a little more reliable diamond's was. I'm not sure if it's smart to consider him a staple in the rotation for the next several years. However, he's earned 2016 for sure.

To add on, comparisons have been made to Buehrle and Jamie Moyer, but probable Cy Young Dallas Kuechel doesn't throw 100 either. Command with all your pitches, a plan to get hitters out and fast outfielders seems to be enough to be a good pitcher.

Flyball pitchers like Milone, Duffey and Hughes should like our current outfield. Groundballers like Gibson won't get as much benefit.
