Oh boy. Fien gives up the go-ahead run.

This is the situation where you get that reliever of whom you traded for to get the 8th. But wait, Jepsen isn't that good and the Twins don't trust him yet.

This is why I don't like the Jepsen trade.

I can't even begin to express how happy I am they're going to get ~50 pitches out of Trevor May tomorrow so that Fien can pitch in a tie game today.

If it make you feel better, he's no longer pitching in a tie game...

Even though I don't agree with you about May being a reliever, you bring up a good point. Once again, Twins management has bungled the situation.

Just a head scratcher why Jepsen was not in...Better hope Dozier or Sano (if he gets a chance) can play hero just to extend the game.

Just beyond frustrating to sit and watch professional baseball people make the same stupid mistakes time after time. The only way putting Fien in makes sense is if Mollie is using it as a big F.U. to TR.

Why would you pinch hit Torii Hunter with two outs when he has to be followed by Shane Robinson, instead of FOR Shane Robinson, either with a runner on this inning, or leading off next inning?

Yeah.

Twins pinch hitting this season has consisted almost entirely of one of the three worst hitters on the team facing one of the two or three best relievers on the opposing team.  Twins pinch hitters are, according to Dick, batting "about a hundred".

Somehow, Dick finds this surprising.

OMG, We don't have an available catcher if Suzuki goes down!!!!  Gardy would never let that happen.

Agree though, some real puzzling moves by Molly.

That is why I said we need another outfield bat, to replace Hunter so that he can find a lot more pine in August and September. No I don't want him back even if Dan Gladden said he should be, to much rust on the frame on this one even if he has been a good Twin.

Relying on him in the stretch drive to bat fifth or sixth and have competitive at bats is fools gold. Even Buxton up and Hunter playing less would be better. Twins management has blown a lot of good will and Team effort this season with some lousy roster, and game decisions. Could have been quite a few more wins with a couple more pieces on the roster,  that would have helped.

I have no problem with bringing back Hunter for next year, but ONLY if it's as a bench bat that will get 150 AB's.  I think you can't discount the possibility that Hicks' progress this year has a lot to do with having Torii around to show him how to be a big leaguer, and I'd like that to continue next year, except that next year, Buxton can benefit too.

I'd bet that Sano is familiar with the tools of ignorance.

I don't know about that, but I can see him smiling and laughing when he put the mask on and went down into the crouch, saying "okay, this is fun, throw the ball, I got it."

I just remember, when I was a kid, that the biggest kid was usually the catcher.

This season?

In some other seasons the Twins scraped by with just 12 pitchers, so the pinch hitter was one of the four worst hitters, not the three worst.   Of course most of that time two of the four bench players were backup catchers, which is pretty much the same thing as having a pitcher pinch hit.
