Toronto Series

I know we all want May to take Pelfreys spot in the rotation like yesterday, but heading into the Blue Jays series, there is absolutely ZERO and I mean ZERO reason why the Twins should even contemplate sending Milone to the mound (or any non elite LHP) in that series. If May isn't ready I think you have to consider Graham, no? Because as much as I like what Milone has done for the twins this year, it would take a miracle for him not to give up 5+ to that lineup featuring all right handed mashers basically.

I hope that Milone can do well enough down the stretch to be traded for something decent (better than Sam Fuld :) ).  He's had a pretty good season to date.  The problem is that next year's rotation as it stands right now is Hughes, Nolasco, Santana, Gibson, and Milone.  I want May in there and Milone is the only guy that  I think can be moved.

I actually agree with this.

It's not a slam on Milone at all... I've been very impressed with him this year but the Blue Jays are RH hitter heavy. Plus Milone has struggled a little in his past 3 starts.

I'd call up whoever is doing best in Rochester (Duffey?) for a spot start or give May the Ball and bump Milone back to the opener with the Indians which will give Milone a couple extra days of rest... Which might help him regain what he had earlier and give him a more favorable match up.

So, who starts in Milone's spot? May or Duffey?

I've seen two different tweets, one said Duffey will start Tuesday, the other said Wednesday.  Either way, I think May is staying in the pen...for now.

The Blue Jays are going to mash whoever is on the mound. it really doesn't matter if it is Milone or May or Duffey or Cy Young.

Not necessarily. It's an old adage in baseball that the first time around, a new pitcher has the advantage. Even if a team as good as Toronto has a "book" on a guy like Duffy, it'll still be the first time they've actually stood at the plate against him, so Duffy might have a little advantage.

Plus, we're comparing how Duffy would do versus how we suspect Milone will do against Toronto's rightie lumber company. Duffy might not be quite the corner painter that Milone is, but his breaking pitches will bend away from RH bats, where Milone's tend to bend towards them. Also, Duffy has an mlb-average fastball, so he might be able to blow a few past them.

I'd still give the ball to May over the other two, but between Milone and Duffy, just this once, I'd be tempted to bet on Duffy having the advantage for one game.
