Is the farm system as deep as we thought?

"Free fall"=4 game losing streak.

Besides, I thought the site consensus since the winning started was that this is, at best, a .500 team. Ride it out.

They are 2-8 in their last 10. That's no where close to a .500 team after the All Star break and officially in free fall for what was a playoff team no matter if they had overachieved or not prior.

I think the system has one elite untouchable, one near untouchable, some solid prospects that have value, and a lot of depth of C+/C guys.

Another thing the Twins have are young guys on the mlb roster that have good value - much, much more than any of the previous 4 years.

Twins have the pieces to get good rentals and good guys with lots of money (Tulo), that isn't the issue. The issue is whether they want to pay the prospect price.

Is your untouchable Berrios, near untouchable Kepler?

Just curious.

Why is Kepler so untouchable? He should be exactly the guy the Twins should be more than willing to trade. (Position of strength)

Buxton untouchable, bump those two down.

I really only trade Berrios for a controlled starter. Kepler not for a rental.

ah, gotcha.

IMO, Buxton isnt a m"prospect" anymore. I doubt he spends much if any time in the minors from here on out, other than the obvious rehab.

That's my reason for the earlier post...past that, there's little in the way of impact potential.

I agree, I merely think his value in November is considerably greater than it is today.

If the deal is great, trade him now. If it's not, hold on to him a bit longer because I think he's turning a corner right now.

I'm not convinced OF is a point of strength right now. Arcia is out of options, and they don't seem to like him. Rosario is hardly elite (though he could be good). Buxton hasn't played really yet. That leaves Hicks, who still should have question marks about him.

Unless you are getting a C or SS back, who is controlled, I don't deal Kepler right now.

Given how they feel about Arcia, and his lack of options left, I'll be surprised if he makes it to the end of the deadline as a Twin.

Fair and just semantics. I included him because he'll almost certainly be prospect eligible after the season.

It's a 162 game season. Yes, this month has been bad. But it's not the only month that counts. Teams have streaks, good and bad. the concensus across the state all season has been that, despite "being a playoff team" (whatever that means in 3 four months before the playoffs), this is not a post-season contender without a lot of luck.

"A bird in the hand," is yours, and it's not going anywhere unless you let it go. But if you leave it and go for "two in the bush," there is no guarantee you'll catch them, you might end up with nothing in the end.

I'll take the proven major league player, you never know what those birds in the bush will do.

There is wisdom in your post but remember that all birds start in the bush and proven MLB players tend to be older birds.

July was our second best month and three of four months we've had a losing record.
