Dozier=MVP candidate?

Gotta be in the running now, no? Maybe not the current "leader" but he would get a top 3 vote from me.

Minnesotans sometimes get the erroneous impression that our teams and players are ignored on the national scene. Well, I guess that has been true with the Twins for the last 4 years but it's not because the Twins are based in Minnesota. However, in 2015 I think serious baseball media people are well aware of what Dozier has been up to and I'm sure he's a top candidate based on his performance this year to date.

Notice I said serious baseball media. I think back to Morneau winning the 2006 AL MVP vote with Derek Jeter finishing second. I'll always remember visiting the web site of The New York Post, that bastion of journalistic integrity. Their big headline was JETER LOSES MVP. And in small print with a small picture was the news that Morneau won the award. It was so laughable that I laughed.

About 30 days ago, Bleacher Report had

#1 Fielder

#2 Cabera

#3 Kipnis

#4 Donaldson

Not sure Dozier knocks any of them out.  But a heck of a season so far!

Not sure Dave. You stuck a fork in him a couple years ago. This might not end up where you want it.

His transformation has been amazing. I have no idea where this power came from! Just like Perkins who I was soured on for a while, he and dozier are now my two favorite players on the team.

You're far too modest Dave. Two years before your ultra-successful "Stick a Fork in Hunter" thread, you called for Dozier's release IIRC. I'm saying he wouldn't be where he is without you.

Just one of a series of astute pronouncements over the years, it turns out. A sampling:

VodkaDave, on 12 Sep 2009 - 11:44 pm, said: Well, after a 4-2 loss to Oakland, the Twins record stands at 70-72. Stick a fork in 'em, they're done. Hopes for a divisional crown, even via a game-163 win, are so far-fetched as to defy belief.

VodkaDave, on 4 Nov 2002 - 11:44 pm, said: I think the verdict is in, on this Joe Mauer. After a good start in Elizabethton last year with a .400 BA, he slumped badly to .302 in single-A Quad Cities. By the time he reaches the majors, it'll be down to .008. Why oh why didn't we draft sure-fire HOFer Mark Prior when we had the chance?

VodkaDave, on 21 Apr 1985 - 11:44 pm, said: This Puckett guy is turning out to be a complete disappointment. He has yet to hit even one home run, and it's pretty definite he never will. If this is the best the team has in the pipeline, we aren't going to win any World Series in the next ten years. Book it!

VodkaDave, on 23 Jun 1955 - 11:44 pm, said: Herman Killaber, or whatever his name is, is turning out to be a complete disappointment. He's batting .067 this year and has yet to hit even one home run. Cut him!

Many folks will recall that in 2009 I actually predicted the twins would make the playoffs when they were 3 back with 4 to play. There was another BYTO poster who actually said he would "leave forever" if it happened. Of course it did happen and the rest is history.

That it has.  I was more concerned about your reverse jinx reversing on Dozier.  :)
