US/Cuba reopen formal diplomatic relations

It's about damned time. I'd say it's more like "20 years late" but whatever, I'll take it.

 

A US embassy is going to open in Havana this summer.

20 years?  It never needed to happen. This whole embargo had more to do with US corporations exploiting Cuban labor which led to Castro's revolution. Not saying Castro was a nice guy or anything, but we had a hand in that mess which was compounded by this stance.

 

Now supposedly Cuba has a wonder drug from lung cancer, or so I've heard. Not to mention that I'm looking forward to being able to vacation there some day. Formal relations will do wonders for their economy.

I agree that it never needed to happen in the first place. My comment was more about how long it took to reverse the mistake.

I have friends in the Minnesota Orchestra who recently travelled there for concerts. The pictures in various members' Facebook pages would confirm the beautiful classic cars.

In truth, all countries have beauty and fantastic people. We just don't get to see or hear much about that.

Of course they do and at the end of the day it's the people that are the overwhelming heart of every country.

 

There is no denying that certain influences have the ability to alter that beauty however,

Couldn't be happier about this. I saw this a long time ago and truly believe the Obama administration deserve a pay on the back. If it wasn't for obamacare, I'd be pretty happy about his terms in office.
