While I want to see Hu promoted soon, I do like the idea of Gonsalves seeing him (hopefully) dominate for another 2-3 starts.

Me too, but for selfish reasons as I live in Ft. Myers and frequent the Miracle games and backfields

Appears it's finally official - Gonsalves now with the Miracle and Jared Wilson returns to the Kernels after his successful spot start for Fort Myers on Wednesday

NEW BRITAIN. As can see by this one example, Topps Pro-Debut cards, just issued, also didn't get the memo that the Twins ada changed http://www.ebay.com/itm/2015-Topps-Pro-Debut-Byron-Buxton-New-Britain-Rock-Cats-Card-50-/351414578394?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item51d1f0ecdaAA franchises. Same for Rosario and Sano and Berrios cards/

That card will be worth a ton of money, not just for Buxton, but because the card is a mistake. Too bad you can't see "Lookouts" spelled out on Buxton's jersey...old photo.

Twins have announced Ethan Mildren is coming off the Miracle's DL, has been assigned to CR and will pitch tonight (6/17) for the Kernels. Dereck Rodriguez moves over to the E'town roster.

Mildren pitched for the Kernels last year before earning a promotion to Fort Myers, where he began 2015, as well. He was 1-4 with a 5.45 ERA for the Miracle before going on the DL.

Maybe it was posted somewhere else, but after I noticed he wasn't on a roster I checked his twitter page and it looks like Jack Barrie was released. After the promotions from the DSL and larger number of corners guys drafted this year I didn't think there would be a lot of at bats for guys who played 1st or 3rd, guess he was one of the one the Twins had the least faith in going forward.  Big bonus, big power, hope he finds a place to play in the future.

Kernels/Twins announced this morning that Brandon Bixler comes off the Kernels DL and Luke Westphal joins CR from FtM.

They fill the spots vacated by Jose Velez's release and Miles Nordgren's assignment to Etown, both earlier in the week.

Question for the minor league folks- I just checked E-Town's roster and it looks like Kuo Hua Lo is repeating the Appy League for the 3rd year in a row. What gives? It'd be nice if the Twins pushed players through the rookie leagues more aggressively.

Is it mean to suggest we post what position some of these lower level guys are?

Sorry, all of the players involved in the Kernels moves this week were pitchers.

No issue, it's just that there are so many players.

I feel the same about the gameday reports, for the lowest levels also.

Not an issue, just a request.

thanks,

MiLB.com is also showing that Gabe Ojeda ©, Tyler Mautner (3B), Dubal Baez (OF), Frank Encarnacion (OF), and Zach Hayden (P) have been released.  We wish them all the best in the future.

Jack Barrie was also released.

Today, JO Berrios announced that he has been promoted to Rochester.

Also hearing that Nick Burdi is being demoted to Ft. Myers, with DJ Johnson heading back to the Lookouts.

The Cedar Rapids Kernels and Minnesota Twins announced Wednesday that left-handed pitcher Randy Rosario has been activated from the 7-day disabled list and right-handed pitcher Keaton Steele has been placed on the 7-day DL, retroactive to June 29, with a right shoulder impingement.

He's been rehabbing from injury for the better part of a year now. I think if you had better inside knowledge, you'd find that your notion that they're moving players too slowly is pretty much baseless.

Well, are you hearing anything in particular about why?

Lack of control and general inconsistency and ineffectiveness, most likely.  The guy's been a mess.  That's why I wish they wouldn't have wasted all that developmental time with him last year in the lower levels.  His deficiencies and areas that he could have addressed in the offseason could have been identified right quick if he had been started off at either this level or High A  in 2014.

Perhaps they started him low because they saw the issues that needed to be worked out and wanted the reps before starting high this year.

Might also be why he didn't get a spring invite.

It seems safe to say that that 2014 strategy was a huge failure.  When he was drafted, there were many of us that, based on his CWS appearances, said his FB was too flat and hittable.  And whatever they've done to tinker with both his FB and wipeout slider has "helped" to cause him to lose any sense of command of either.

I know there were some health issues in ST and there was a drop in velocity, but this has gone on too long for it just to be health-related.

This is completely backwards. If what he was doing in college wouldn't work in the bigs (as you said yourself), clearly he needed to change. And that change might take time. Sometimes a player can pick it up right away, sometimes it takes an adjustment period. The best hope is that he can take a step back, gather himself, clean up his issue and rocket back through the system.
