Chicago is better than median, best they've been ranked in all the years KLAW has been doing this. CLE and KC are not all that good......

 

He doesn't go into all the players, that will come later, this is just a paragraph on each team in general.

I'd wouldn't be surprised at all if Berrios ended up being the best out of the group of Meyer, May, Stewart, Berrios.

Jose Berrios #97?

It's not a horrible ranking.  Klaw has always had doubts about his ability to strike out hitters with his flat plane and he's not a ground ball pitcher.  And Berrios' ceiling, in scout talk, is probably a #3 pitcher. He doesn't have the upside of Meyer or Stewart.  Of all the prospect guys, Klaw has always been the lowest on Berrios.  On the flip side, I believe he's always been a big supporter of Gordon.

To Klaw including Berrios in top 100 might be a compromise. :) Top 100 is saying Berrios is going to be a major League for many years, but maybe not  one of the top 12 pitchers.  He did get to see him in the futures game, but I don't think he's seen him pitch for more than a inning in person. The closer he get to the majors the harder it will be to ignore his stats.

I'd be shocked if Gordon ended up being anything more than UI, but I think Berrios has a chance to be a good #2 pitcher.

Not surprised to see Berrios so low. Many prospect gurus still not buying into his size and pitchability. But based on results and age it seems crazy to have him 67 spots below Meyer.

Don't know if it is crazy, at this point.   Meyer is older, but his career K/9 is higher than Berrios' best.  And Meyer has actually improved that rate at both AA and AAA.

 

Still plenty of time for Berrios to rocket up the list, of course.  Francisco Liriano didn't make BA's top 100 after 2004, but was #6 the next year after he dominated AA and AAA (and debuted in MLB).

Yes, Klaw stubbornly will not get away from the height/plane issue.  His loss, but since that has been his only gripe about Berrios from Day 1 and Berrios cannot change his height, Klaw probably can't change his opinion too much without being a hypocrite. 

 

Also, bonus points for anyone who can get Klaw to call you an idiot or condescendingly tell you that you don't know anything about baseball for disputing his opinion in one of his chats.
