Beergraphs Says This Beer Was The Most Checked-In Beer At Target Field

Gathering information from the beer-boasting app, Untappd, Beergraphs.com found that the most checked-in adult beverage at Target Field was Summit's Extra Pale Ale in 2014. 

 

Of course, that does not represent the overall masses who funneled into Target Field for 81-games this year. By sheer quantity, AB-InBev's Michelob Golden Light was the most consumed beer this year says Twins president Dave St. Peter.

I wonder how much better beergraphs would be with some formatting, and better "chat" software, and use of more than just untappd.

 

Basically, untappd self selects most people that "only" drink mass beers, as most of them aren't going to check in on untappd just to document that miller is a 4 still.....

I have to admit after recently discovering Deschutes Obsidian Stout it's tough to go back, even to Summit, which is mighty good.

The holy grail I'm trying to replace is Watney's Cream Stout. The Deschutes will do but I'll have to look into these others. Surdyk's, or elsewhere?

If price is what you want, um, other places.

 

Dangerous Man is only available in their tap room, unfortunately. NE Mpls, near Indeed and other breweries.

 

Watney's Cream......let me try to figure out a good comp. Boring meetings today, I should have time.

Mackeson's XXX stout is a close approximation to Watney's, in that both are excellent milk stouts. Watney's hasn't been made for years, that's a long search for a replacement, perhaps with every passing year nostalgia is making the Watney's more irreplaceable.

 

The Watney you drank was likely brought in from Canada, it was brewed here by Sleeman's before it disappeared when Watney's was bought out.

 

Sprecher black bavarian is also very good if you're looking for something domestic. Sprecher is a Milwaukee micro brew. Although it's not a milk stout so not as sweet.

There is an application called Untappd. When you drink a beer, you "check in" and say what you are drinking and rate it.

 

I thought Tin Whiskers had a great space, a bit loud. There are communal tables and games. The bar was nice. It is a good site.

 

The beers were better than many taprooms, looking at my Untappd....(a 3.5 is a good score from me, I'd buy it again)......

 

Stout=3.5 (the special cask was a 4.5)

Brown=2.5, but my wife thought it was a 4

Amber 3.5

Pumpkin=3.5, 4 for the nitro

Wheat=3.5 or 4, it had a lot of flavors, but not the banana flavors

Pilsner=2, but I don't like Pilsners much

Surly (I find them over rated)

Sysiphus (very, very dependent on the beer that week)

Excelsior (I find them flavorless)

 

By "fun" factor:

Harriet Brewing (almost always live music, can be very loud in winter)

Tin Whiskers or Sysiphus or Dangerous Man for the games and buildings

All others are about equal

I'm at 635 unique check-ins at the moment, since Nov 22, 2012.  So, I'm doing some damage.  The only beer that I tend to check in more than once is good old Grainbelt.  Which is my favorite cheap beer.

 

If you're looking for another good beer store, The Ale Jail in St. Paul has some great stuff.  I tend to go to Stinson Wine, Beer and Spirits.  I know they list wine first, but beer is their priority.

I love Bender.  I named my cat Bender (only partially for the beer).  

 

I like Tin Whiskers beer.  Pretty good overall.  Their stout is pretty good.

I know, it's a Brown Ale.  Wasn't really a comment on the "stout," thoughts, but a general one.

 

It's my favorite beer regardless of type, so had to bring it up!

I'm a hophead, and given the beers of a lot of our new breweries, so are many of the brewers around here.

 

I don't know exactly what beer was like before prohibition, but I can't imagine it had anywhere near the variety of style that we currently enjoy.

 

Golden age of beer? May be.
