Dr. Evil Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Inexplicably? I'm not sure why we would be playing for one run in the 1st inning.Brings back thoughts of Ricky Henderson and how good he was at getting that early run.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 At least they are getting better hitting counts.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I felt the breeze from Arcia's second strike all the way down here. But the double after that was sweet. Too bad the baserunner wasn't among our faster guys.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 So you pinch run Parmalee here, but if you'd done it at 1st he'd have scored there. F'in brilliant Gardy. Really.

When they got Morales they knew he was s-l-o-w, but do they have a plan for how to deal with him? It seems not.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I can hear Chi-Town "Keee-rap".
Tibs Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I can hear Chi-Town "Keee-rap".Have you been banned yet?
Dr. Evil Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Too bad we didn't have a MLB batter to hit for fuld there.....doh!
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 That inning is on Gardy. Just inexplicable.
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 That's why you send Morales and make the other team throw him out. They probably do, but standing on third and watching Colabello and Fuld predictably fail to get the ball out of the infield is worse. Be the aggressor.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 That is probably their only good chance.
Tibs Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 That inning is on Gardy. Just inexplicable.Hindsight 20/20
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 When they got Morales they knew he was s-l-o-w, but do they have a plan for how to deal with him? It seems not. In that situation you have to PR for him. Parmalee isn't really a downgrade anyway. But if you are leaving him in under the premise that it's only the 7th inning, than you don't change your mind 2 minutes later. Ugh.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Hindsight 20/20 Not really. With Morales at 1st, you know nothing short of a HR will score him and you're not getting 3 hits in an inning off this pitcher.
Dr. Evil Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Arcia is on the cusp of being a star. You can see him learning and improving.
Physics Guy Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Great managing there by Gardy. If you are going to pinch run Parmelee, do it right away. After Morales was held at third he just looked like an idiot making the change then. Nobody probably even thinks about it if he leaves Morales in.
curt1965 Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 If Correia would suddenly give up 3 runs this inning, would he still be credited with a quality start?
Tibs Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Not really. With Morales at 1st, you know nothing short of a HR will score him and you're not getting 3 hits in an inning off this pitcher.I doubt Parmelee scores there. He isn't exactly a burner himself. Quit blaming Gardy for everything.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Sam Fuld is not Kirby Puckett. Or Torii Hunter. Or Aaron Hicks. Oh well.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I doubt Parmelee scores there. He isn't exactly a burner himself. Quit blaming Gardy for everything. I'm hardly a Gardy basher, but anyone of even slightly below average speed scores on that double.
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Correia's trade value inches higher. Wish it was "miles higher".
glunn Community Moderator Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I am a jinx tonight. When I got home I turned on the game to see the first home run within 5 seconds after I tuned in. I just tuned in again and the first pitch went over the wall.
Tibs Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 If Correia would suddenly give up 3 runs this inning, would he still be credited with a quality start? No he wouldn't
Tibs Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 I'm hardly a Gardy basher, but anyone of even slightly below average speed scores on that double.Pure speculation. Maybe we should try getting more than 5 hits in 7 innings before we blame the manager for not pinch running a slow runner for another slow runner that isn't quite as slow.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Short benches. Didn't want to waste a player this early and that makes sense. When they got him to third, they wanted someone who could score on a fly ball short of the track.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 So who besides Hicks can they even call up for CF?
snepp Verified Member Posted July 8, 2014 Posted July 8, 2014 Even Gibby scores from 1st on the double.
