If trying to be nice in my criticism , for lack of criticism , from media is a mancrush, I guess so,..............but many people tire of , it everyone else's fault but Mauer. Like not calling an error when 999 out of 1000 that play is an error.

An error needs "regular effort." Head and Shoulders Mauer is too cool to get his pants dirty though. Am I wrong?

I agree with you as well... The interpretations of errors at the MLB level are goofy and can't be explained.

However... Mauer did knock it down and if Nolasco does his job... It's an out and no error.

It's only possibly considered a Mauer error because his teammate didn't support him.

While I agree Nolasco got caught napping, if Mauer cleanly fields a routine 3 hopper hit right to him, he takes it himself and we're not having this conversation.

Myself... I feel that Boots happen... Do they happen to Mauer more than average... It seems so. But regardless.... Boots happen.

Boots happen... But... Standing on the mound and watching it happen when you've been taught since high school to cover 1st on balls to the 1st base side.

That's not a boot... That's not trying. That checking out of the ball game and going on auto pilot and it's why we are behind.

Mauer tried... Nolasco did not... If I'm a manager... I know who I'm talking to.

Who says "it's everyone's fault but Mauer"? And that's not an error even 10 times out of 1000. Should Mauer have fielded cleanly? Sure that would have been nice. But he knocked the ball down and kept it in the infield, and kept the option of a PO available had Nolasco even remotely done his job.

Completely agree with this. Also if Nolasco gets over there, we aren't having this convo. The confluence of the two mistakes is what lead to the baserunner. And for some reason (it seems to me), official scorers/MLB have a "if it's more than one person's fault, it's nobody's fault" approach.

On second thought, time to find something else to do.

You'll need a partner.

And the pitcher absorbs it statistically. It really isn't fair to the pitcher... They negotiate contracts with metrics as well.

In this case Nolasco deserves it... But in most cases... Pitchers ERA takes a beating because the RF and 2B can't decide who is going to catch a ball.

All the arguing over Darvish and that ball in the 7th inning.

It has long been established that it wasn't an error... But everybody knows it's an error... Of course it's an error.

The scoring system needs to be redone.

Sorry, an actual baseball discussion nearly broke out and I had to do something to bring the low brow back.

Yeah I'm not sure what preparation you can do for Hernandez. Its not fair. He can, and does, throw anything in any situation - for strikes.

Gad-Zukes was quoted about his approach and prep for King Felix. To me it sounded like what he does for every pitcher.

Back from my short hike, what did I miss?

100 pitches from Nolasco in 5 easy innings, with, by my count, 3 "fastballs."
