Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 That's gotta be an out. Yep... And it's on Nolasco
blairpaul715 Verified Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 No Error??? I like Mauer , but the love from the official scorer is sickening!!
Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Yep... And it's on NolascoYeah, he's gotta be over there, but I think Mauer's gotta field that cleanly too.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Yep... And it's on Nolasco Nolasco and the Twins are starting to lull.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Terrible fielding by Hicks
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 That's the 2nd ball today Hicks has misjudged to the right side of the field.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 OMG... When we lose today... We will know why?
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 This has been a disappointing inning for the Twins. This has been a disappointing season for Nolasco.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Nolasco has to be done after the inning right?
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Yeah, he's gotta be over there, but I think Mauer's gotta field that cleanly too. No doubt... But I'm more concerned about the mind set of Nolasco... Grounder to 1st... He'll field it clean... I'm not engaged right now... I don't have to cover because I'm not thinking about covering. You start playing baseball that way... Look what happens.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 While nobody doubts that Hicks has the athletic ability to be a good center fielder, it hasn't happened yet. Ready for a Fuld/Mastro platoon with Hicks figuring out hitting and fielding in AAA.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Nolasco has to be done after the inning right? He was done with me after he didn't cover first.
Willihammer Provisional Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Since the Mariners lost their Hart, are they now the Pirates?

Guest USAFChief Guests Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Nolasco hasn't looked right from the 1st inning, to me. Velocity off, command off. Lucky it's only 3 runs, IMO.
LaBombo Verified Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Is Mastro back with the Twins? Not yet. Shouldn't take much...
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Agree. This has been a pretty bad start by him that luckily has only lead to 3 runs.
Beezer07 Provisional Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Not yet. Shouldn't take much... I'm not so sure I want a guy on the team who wasn't good enough to make/stay on the team in the first place.

Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Not yet. Shouldn't take much...This is why I was POed when they DFA'd Mastro to begin with. It's not that I like Mastro, just no confidence in Hicks yet. I am hopeful AAA can solve it, but the way this season is going, Hicks will just struggle the whole season at the bigs and never progress.

I don't disagree with you at all, but isn't that an error, I cant believe that is called a hit!!!! Most of blame should go to Nolasco, but if Mauer fields ball cleanly , like he should, it is an easy out........Blyleven and Bremer don't put ANY blame on Mauer. Never any criticism of Mauer by any Twins official media or Twins officials......and there should be at least some.......I know there is a lot and most unfair on sites like here, but overall maybe it equals out.

Maybe they don't feel it necessary to criticize Mauer, what with the hoards of Twins fans who are all too eager to criticize him for breathing wrong?

I agree with you as well... The interpretations of errors at the MLB level are goofy and can't be explained. However... Mauer did knock it down and if Nolasco does his job... It's an out and no error. It's only possibly considered a Mauer error because his teammate didn't support him.
blairpaul715 Verified Member Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 blairpaul do you have a mancrush on Mauer or something? If trying to be nice in my criticism , for lack of criticism , from media is a mancrush, I guess so,..............but many people tire of , it everyone else's fault but Mauer. Like not calling an error when 999 out of 1000 that play is an error.
Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Why won't he ever progress?I think he's overwhelmed. His metrics are terrible but those things change. Progress can happen when he's ready, but he's not. The manager and GM have taken to calling him out in the media. That level of frustration indicates to me (beyond poor judgement by management) that Hicks isn't getting it through his skull. Send him to AAA to get his head and swing together and work on fielding.
